E3 in retrospective

List what you expected, were surprised by (pleasant and/or unpleasant) and your conclusion of the games as a whole.

Expected: Sequels, a lot of them. APB footage (RSS Feed 8)).

Surprise (pleasant): APB being named game of E3 and most innovative game on PC.

Surprise (unpleasant): Valve releasing L4D II just a year after the first...rushed?

Conclusion: There were too many sequels this year and not enough original ideas. Not that that's a bad thing seeing as most of the sequels are for fantastic games but in the current climate does that mean production value will suffer?

Not all sequels are bad but the more sequels that are made means the less original IPs coming out and I personally believe that devalues some of the gaming business.

Honestly, sequels can be all good and dandy but there are definitely a lot of weak sequels (personal opinion) that have been made over the years and where the hell are all the new and original IPs ffs? I want NEW and EXCITING not REUSED and RECYCLED.

So APB is like a competetive MMOGTA with more real-time features like day/night etc?

EDIT: Ru ro, just found a presentation of APB with the following goal:

The Goal for APB wrote:Counter-Strike role model - best online game ever?

It's essentially gangs commit crimes, police try to stop them.

The more crimes a gang commits, the more money they receive (more arrests more money for police)

Sooner or later gangs (if memory serves well) gain a bit of area as territory and in that there is a safehouse/garage. The gangs have to protect their turf from rival gangs.

One gets to choose whether to be a gangster or an "enforcer".

Regarding the "Counter Strike model" they want APB to play like a multiplayer deathmatch when in combat and like an MMO when they're not. In that sense your levelling up relies on your skill as opposed to time input.

The official site www.apb.com is kinda useless.

The best place to go is www.apb.nevolved.com

From there you can get a basic idea, see screenshots and view some gameplay footage....

Or just look on Youtube.
