Oh yay, another Battlefield game. More war games to proclaim how the gaming industry is FUCKING SHIT AT MAKING UP NEW INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

Good for EA for making a new Battlefield. I'm still waiting for someone to come up to me and say "GUESS WHAT. THERE'S A NEW CALL OF DUTY BEING MADE. AND IT'S NOT GONNA SUCK. COOL EH?" so I can fucking smack them upside the face.

I'm going to be rather blunt here, k?

FUCK YOUR FUCKING WAR GAMES.

Whatever happened to Battlefield 1943

Battlefield already juiced the three time zones, past present and future, what the hell is left, interplanetary travel?

And making MORE war games is ALWAYS the right answer to a already inflated genre?

What's your point?

Replace "BATTLEFIELDS" with "CALL OF DUTIES" and hey presto, same situation.

But will the success of CoD 4 and the hating of CoD WaW by fans go to their heads?

Well as long as they keep separating from the Call of Duty title contaminated by Treyarch, I'm happy.

With the random spawning grenades?

But even still the AI is so predictable that essentially it requires a 'push the boundary' tactic.

CoD 4, Veteran, Ragtime. Dante's eleventh layer.

I'll be honest here, I don't mind War games as much I look like I do. I just hate how a lot of them are marketed. There have been some decent war-based games but there are A LOT of war games based around World War II and that puts me off majorly.

I have two major problems with the War gaming genre.

1. Less WWII, more fiction. Is it so hard for professional writers (I call them professional as they're in the profession of writing as a job) to come up with a new and exciting storyline for a war game? There are a shit load of Action and RPG games with original storylines, why not war games?

2. For the most part (and this isn't totally directed at war games but at many games in modern society), games sole marketing is graphics. Why? What's the point? In a years time another game is going to come out that will rival and possibly better your games visual presentation so why bother marketing on the fact that you have wicked graphics?

Graphics don't make a game and I've always believed that. Market off something else like the storyline or gameplay. As for those two elements, I don't see much storyline or gameplay changes in war games. What else is there to add exactly?

It's WW2. It's tried and true, it's been done to death (pun not intended, sorry to anyone offended). Storyline wise, there's not much too add (this is why writers need to get thinking in more imaginative ways for crying out loud!) and as for gameplay? Most are first-person shooter based. Adding "power-ups" ruins the games realistic attitude in my opinion (which it must have if it's based off real-world events) and games where you spawn, capture bases and have a respawn limit (such as Battlefield) have been done a lot as well. Inside and outside the war genre.

This opinion is generally based around the fact that there are a lot of new games coming out, yes. But most of them are sequels to already made games. Games which were either good or bad. A sequel isn't going to make the original game any better, and if the original game was good a sequel might make it worse (look at DX:IW, it didn't really taint the first game but it wasn't exactly great quality).

So no, I do not mind war games. But yes, I do mind war games based off real-world events like Call of Duty and Battlefield have done. And in general, I'm sick of bloody sequels.

I appreciate that is your opinion but I still do not understand your point of view, it would appear you seem to just be judging the game based off it's setting. I do not believe you can accurately formulate an opinion of a game before playing it.

This argument I can understand but how else am I suppose to "accurately" rate a game based off World War 2? It's based off something that happened in real life, therefore any game based off WW2 I pretty much can read about in articles relating to the War itself.

I strongly believe there is nothing new to be bought to the table about WW2. Like I said above, it's about a war that happened in REAL LIFE. What more needs to be said?

Yes because the only purpose of a video game is to directly reflect real world experiences just like movies are.
