Buggy, poorly optimised, AGAIN.
Bohemia really need to get a god damn QA department.
It's a shame because there is genuinely good gameplay behind the failure.

Too bad you can't run it at those settings even with a GTX 295 and a high end i7.

Why not ?
Pretty sure a 295 can run anything on the market these days, ultra high quality. Even poorly-optimized GTA IV.

GTX 285 averages 20.5fps on High/Very high at 1280x1024 with 1xMSAA.

They'll release a patch soon, or new drivers, or something.
Until then, Skulltrail / Mars 295 should handle the beast.

8 patches into the original ArmA nothing had changed yo'. It's a good game but Bohemia doesn't know how to optimise their way out of a paper bag.

What a shame, I was planning on getting it as well but I doubt my machine can handle it according to benchmarks.

Downloaded this, I get around 10 fps if not lower on full low with 1280x1024, around 15 fps on 1024x768.
AMD Athlon 3500+ 2,2 GHz
2x 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz
MSI NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB DDR3
According to minimum requirements it's:
Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz, Intel Core 2.0 GHz, AMD Athlon 3200+ or faster
1 GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7800, ATI Radeon 1800 or faster (with Shader Model 3 and 256 MB VRAM)
also everything gets motion blurred at times
also models would sometimes be untextured for 30 seconds before the texture would load.
the fact that it was a pirated german version with language files replaced for english ones still exists.

Despite its massive collision bugs, lazy explosions (didn't know games of today still color the model black, GTA style, when it blows up) and questionable technical requirements, it's a pretty decent game. I've tried it at a friend's house and he said it was called ARMA 2 not Armed Assault

It is called ArmA 2, not Armed Assault 2.
What fps did you get?

19-22 on High, using a 4870. The game intentionally supports ATI products.
