Several questions, I look to your gaem knowledge to help.
1. How do I connect my 360 to my laptop so I can use the laptop screen as a TV screen.
2. If I was to buy a second 360 for uni, would I be able to use my live account on that as well as the one at home.
3. If not how do I get my gamer profile onto my new 360?

ummm. I thought the female port, such as on laptops, can only be used to output signal

Most laptops only have VGA ports, and newer ones might have HDMI as well. It's very unlikely that you'll have a DVI port on a laptop

You'll find DVI ports on a mac.. but that's not a real laptop
You can always buy converters too..

You realise that you need an encoder box, not simply a converter, if you want to go from the laptop to a DVI monitor. Because VGA is analogue, and DVI is digital.
My laptop has a HDMI output though (which is digital, obviously), so I can use a HDMI to DVI converter.

Yeah, they only work in the opposite direction. DVI -> VGA
You can't simply take an analogue signal and make it digital with just a cable

Have you actually tried using one? I use this stuff every day, trust me it only works one way. As someone who knows about technology, I can't believe you don't understand that you can't just transfer an analogue signal into digital.

DVI supports both analog and digital.
Adn yeh, those cables work fine.
Although I still don't believe that you can actually output signal to a laptop.

No, that's DVI-I. Most decent monitors are pure digital (DVI-D) and therefore you can't just plug in an analogue signal. If you're really interested, you need something like this -

Which is more expensive than many monitors

Apparently not, w/o some flashy tech that costs more than it's weight in gold.
