Deus Ex Alpha

Why the fuck does UT99 have way more players and servers than dx, and dxmp has been out shorter. UT99 is a very shitty game, TNAG on dx is better than it. Any ideas why ut99's multiplayer is way bigger than dxmp?

From my experience, UT is far more widely known than Deus Ex is. Deus Ex has good singleplayer value but UT was made with multiplayer in mind, whereas DX was not.

Because it is a multiplayer game since the begin (it was designed to be a multiplayer game!) and it is more famous than Dx.

DeusEx first released version didn't come with Multiplayer mode, so many peoples that bought DeusEx when it got released didn't play Dxmp and don't know about it because they don't updated their game. Dxmp pack got released after sometime and Dx Goty has it included.

I bet if we showed UT99 players DXMP they would like it better than UTSucking9

Please show me proper mods that duplicate the gameplay of UT99 in DX. And then I don't mean the weapons, but especially the gamemodes.

UT99 players like UT99 because it's UT99. Tnag does not make DXMP better than UT99.

Sorry Icepick, but I agree with dropped/da/soap.

tnag is missing many UT'99 features weapons wise, inclusive of:

- The sniper rifle, with zooming AltFire scope. Completely omitted AFAIK.
- The Pulse Rifle's altfire looks awkward, and is re-drawn every shot instead of being rotated to where it's fired next.
- The "8-Ball" Rocket launcher. WHERE IS IT?! (Even I managed to get that coded to work 100% in DX, and that was at least 2-3 years ago.)
- No "ZOMG UHUTRAZ DETONATION!!! =D" from the Shock Rifle, when you shoot its altfire Plasma Ball.
- Impact Hammer... has been turned into a stinkin' RAILGUN?! Whaaaaaaaat.
- No double Enforcers.
- No chainsaw. (It's never used in the main game, but I think there is one somewheres.)
- No Redeemer. *unamused face*
- The Super Shock Rifle has been turned into a Gravity Rifle. (For the uneducated: The Super Shock Rifle is a "one-hit-one-kill-no-luck-or-skill" weapon added only by mutator.)


...now I've picked it apart like this, I have come to a shocking realiation...

"ZOMG UHUTRAZ DETONATION!!! =D" from the Shock Rifle, Impact Hammer en Redeemers are definitely a must for the game. God, all 3 are so much fun & so great to use in combat. Easy killin'

I like both DXMP and UT for different reasons.

Community isn't on either of them though, lol.

I never stated my reasons why I wouldn't recommend the communities, so stop making assumptions.

However, population wasn't one of them.

Because UT99 is the best. I still play it sometimes, and the gameplay is way better than DeusEx's one x). Well, it does not mean that DXMP is shit, i like it a lot too.

DX > UT > DXMP

Deus Ex was originally a single-player game, the multiplayer functionality was added as a bonus, of sorts. Unreal Tournament started as a multiplayer game.

Deus Ex singleplayer will ALWAYS own it's multiplayer counterpart and UT, because that's what the damn game was designed for. I like UT over DXMP myself but that's just my opinion. This is all opinions.

UT isn't better than DXMP, DXMP isn't better than UT. DXSP isn't even better than any of them. Why? Because in reality, nothing is "better" than anyone or anything else, it's all a matter of OPINION. My opinion is DIFFERENT TO YOURS but it is NEVER wrong or right.

It took a lot of effort to not insult you based on the principle that you think RPG players need to "L2P", I think I deserve a medal.
