Omg wtf? Civ 5 is released? I've didn't hear anything about it. CIV is normally one of the best
strategy game. I hope the 5 is still good like the old ones.

I don't like Civilizations, I prefer the Total War series, because the battles are awesome!

I mean, look at this:

Popular isn't better, but if we want to play it that way each L4D has sold more individually than the Orange Box.

Also, Total War is shit, just saying. Always wanted to get that off my chest because Total War is a messy hurrdurr strategy game with no merit. Play Mount and Blade.

Total War is too easy shit. CIV is way more skilled.

There's no skill in CIV, lol.

Have you played both games or wut? o.O

I can't talk much about Civ, because the only Civ game I played was the II. But yet Total War series is awesome, the battles are the best.

The Rome Total War graphics are outdated indeed, the game is old.

This reminds me of something I used to watch on TV years ago. Be damned if I remember what it's called though. D:
(It was on BBC, if that helps)

Was it the show where they pit enemies from certain times against each other just for a lol to see who would win?

I believe it was called something like "Real War" or something. People controlled armies by moving pieces on a board, or something.

It used the Total War engine, that's why it looks familiar.

Yes, it was Real War.

After few games, when you're not amazed anymore from exagons and nice graphic, you understand that the game is just a piece of crap. Less units, no religions, no corps... LOL

cIV is way better

step forward ? with only 1 unit for hexagon ? you can't even build an huge army like in other versions without fill the map. no thanks

religions and corps wasn't bad at all. I'd prefer to see the unit EXP thing deleted than don't have religions anymore

The AI is retard.
No more transport ships, just move your units on the sea....

It's a step forward because stacking people was silly, the ranged units are also brilliant and. This is a more tactical version of play instead of keeping people on one tile. Everyone loves this change.

Transport ships are also welcome especially in the new format seen above, this lets you focus on proper navies, the embarked troops are also very weak so I don't understand your problem.

It was bad, no one liked CIV4 for it, they wanted CIV3 back as soon as they saw Religions and Corps in the expansion. Religion was a big offender and culture boost.

CIV1 was my first PC game, I've followed every game in the series and I can tell you now that CIV5 > CIV 3 > CIV 4 > CIV 2 > CIV 1

I agree with you.

Except CIV1 since, I never played it :D, but it must looks like CIV2, I think.

Most of the CIV community and everyone else I've spoken to, I'm sorry but stacking hurrdurr into a city was boring, having your entire army out on the field defending and attacking brings a more tactical substance instead of MY PACK OF CARDS IS BIGGER THAN YOUR PACK OF CARDS I WIN.

If you want to delude yourself into more siege tanks than attacking units on one tile then sure kid have fun.

More Tactical ?
That's my tactic in ciV: I sign "open borders" with you then move 500 units in your land and surround your cities. After this I can decide if keep you blocked forever or declare you war since my units will not be kicked out of your land like in cIV. Woops easy win.

Few more things that makes this game an awesome piece of crap:

When you conquer a city you get all the territories owned by that city and not just the city tile like in cIV. This doesn't help you reconquer your cities.
Workers can't stack so you need ages to build a road with 1 worker unit only.
There're less improvements.
There are less technologies.
City States are useless.

The 1 unit per tile system is so fucked up, I really don't understand why you're so happy about it.

Because I'm in the mood to basically destroy your stupidity I made you a bunch of really bad 3 second copy and paste drawings in mspaint.

A comparison of CIV1-4 vs CIV 5 combat, the pink army being invaded by the blues.

CIV 1-4, PUT EVERYTHING UNDER ONE TILE IF IM STRONGER I WIN

CIV 5:

CIV5 has undoubtedly modernised classic CIV play with a deeper system for almost everything, the combat outshines. You're able to use units to flank the key units instead of the enemy relying to stack everything in one safe pile, you must position your units wisely for example with those pictures; the siege weapons are at the back but you can out flank these safely with horse units if available or other stuff.

You lose good day sir, oh and CIV5 has the most -everything- compared to other CIV games on Launch (CIV4 was dire, CIV5 dwarfed the original release pre expansions for content), the only disappointment is lack of deep customisation of games but according to recent patches I am enjoying it's inclusion soon.

City states are minor AI players, shut the fuck up.

YOU LOSE

GOOD DAY SIR and please stay out of this thread ta ta.

If you let your enemy put so many units in one tile near your city, this is YOUR problem and not a game fault. And even if you was sleeping while pressing the end turn button and you woke up with hundreds of enemies in one tile, you can just move units to the city undersiege and bomb that tile. This because CIV 1-4 let you put more than one unit in your cities to defend them.

And even if they "rape the shit out of your city" and conquer it, in the 90% of cases you don't loose the territories around that city like it happens in CIV V, letting you reconquer it more easily.

1UPT = BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK

- City states are the most useless shit I've ever seen in a game. All they do is NOTHING. They can only whine about other CS\Civs or barbarians. At least vassal cities in CIV IV were ready to build some units to help you in case of war.

Nah mate everyone just does that, I've also played a lot of online civ and people just harass and go all in on civilizations. There's nothing but hurrdurr and CIV4 was all about SIEGE ONLY.

Seriously if you don't like the changes in CIV5 you're retarded because now you've got an awesome thinking game with RANGED UNITS HAVING RANGE ATTACKS

Also do you read?, I put a fuck ton of stuff in one city just to show you how retarded it was. They literally stand on eachother's head. After 15+ years CIV has been this way and it's a mechanic I don't miss.

...

I knew you were being silly about the city states but needed you to compare to 4's vassals... Puppet states = your vassal states in CIV 5. City states are just extra AI players for you to become friends with/conquer.

Please leave this thread.

I like this entry in the Civilization series because it's not about who can play Jenga the best and try to destroy each other's stacks. It's a lot of the same, with the different win conditions and the fact that it takes eight hours to finish a game but it's good for die hard Turn-based "Asshole Warfare" fans. If you love repetition, being a backstabbing douchebag or a micromanaging master then this is probably the game for you. Buy this game so I can be a pacifist and be amazed when people declare war on me, then I spiral into a hellish place where I know nothing but deceit and paranoia before my entire continent is nuked by people WHOM I THOUGHT WERE MY FRIENDS. FUCK YOU MOMOTAROS. I SWEAR TO GOD.

lol

i love my steam friends
