There were a several games that left an incredible impression on me as an individual. I think I can narrow them down into this, however.
Phantasy Star II
This was the beginning of the end for me. I probably had no business playing this game when I was 9 years old, as it had many mature themes. However, I did play it, and I still remember it now with an amount of fondness. Before this game, playing videogames was merely a hobby of mine. They were something to play when I was bored, or when you had friends over. Afterwards, videogames became an integral part of my character. I started to consider myself as a "gamer," and so began my quest to find for more difficult and unique challenges.

We could continue on with the topic so as not to waste it? :$
Silent Hill 2; The greatest horror game ever, possibly the most complete masterpiece in the history of gaming. There's an obvious reason why I'm attached to it and it's obviously because I killed my wife.
Final Fantasy 7. I say a lot of bad things about this game, but this was the last good part of the game looking back. Such a great start of a JRPG, everything in Disc 1's Midgar was atmospherically awesome. The game could have ended here if it didn't have to answer for Sephiroth and the heir Rufus.
Interplay's Fallout games but mostly the second installment because it shows how to cause terror and "Right, fuck this, I can't kill one of them that easily and this guy can?"

>his first cyberpunk game was deus ex
lmao losers, Syndicate series m8s. Such a great tactical game, and I like FO:Tactics for the same gameplay. Fuck X-Com.
MGS4 = no gameplay, by the way nano machines did everything, the previous plot points didn't mean shit, not even the AI.
MGS3 is just standing on it's own feet with the most refined protagonist with admitted influences and not repressed as it's own ORIGINAL STORY DO NOT STEAL. Seriously I'm not joking, while they're fundamentally the same character, Big Boss' story and execution is much more thought out.

MGS3 is the most original of the lot, but MGS just holds a special place in me, i couldn't even pick a reason why that is, i just know its easily my most favourite game ever, the entire series is godly imo!
Deus Ex was special to me too, first PC game i ever played i think

DX. Obv. I was like what, 10? That shit opened my fucking mind.
MGS2. I will concede james' point that MGS3 is the better game, but MGS2 was my first and I was quite young at the time.
Hundreds this is a long gay list
