There are some options in the .ini file that you need to enable (even if you have it set to Ultra) which can increase quality greatly, regarding shadows, draw distances, lighting, water effects, etc

Nope. and you can disable the mouse smoothing if you want in the ini file as well.

This game is ACTUALLY worth buying. This post is a tad ADHD but I'm sure you'll get the picture.

Took me 45 mins to fight a dragon last night but NOPE. Just when I was about to kill it.. It grabbed my head and whipped me into a mountain. If you liked Monster Hunter dragon fights; then you'll love the feeling of dragon fights in Skyrim.

This game is hard. If you do not find normal mode a challenge, put the setting up a notch. There are five difficulty levels. Normal is in the middle. I found a cave with spiders, this dark elf was experimenting on. I found the elf... "This is gonna be easy... only him?". I then proceeded to attack him, in which his dual spark magic drained my health in about 6 seconds. so I ran for my fookin life, turned a corner and used my only invisible potion I found in some dungeon a long time back, and managed to heal myself. I then have to summon my flame atronach, then equip my ice bolt spell and a ward shield spell and managed to beat him about 5 minutes after.

Thank Septum they got rid of that god awful difficulty bar from Oblivion.


Potions aren't everwhere, and the ones that are, heal you very little. Better potions are very expensive, and you do not make a lot of money in the game. If you want more money, try finding areas with a lot more difficult monsters. It can take a while to beat one (giant, ice wraith, etc.), but some of the things you get from them might be worth while to sell for a lot more money, not to mention that the xp can be rewarding.

I highly suggest upgrading restoration, no matter what class you are using. Even then, you'll find yourself in situations with no potions, no mana potions, and no mana, running for your life.

Decent weapons and spells are VERY expensive, and will run you bankrupt when purchasing, leaving you no money for potions.

The level scaling is actually smart. Just because you run off and do a billion side quests does not mean your going to prance right through the main story with daisy's in hand. It's STILL going to be hard. However, there are some mini quests that can be easy, and this is to help those who are broke / lacking quests, gain quests from certain groups. These quests will get more difficult as you go on.

If you find the game easy, make it harder. Playing games in easy is a waste, and can wreck the experience, and feeling of accomplishment.

I do have to commend Bethesda on Skyrim. They did an excellent job this time around. I could even just stare at the environments for hours.

VERY glad I purchased this before BF3.

The only problem I would have, if that their highest difficulty level was too easy. However, most even find the middle difficulty hard.

FUCK ALL OF YOU, the menu is excellent for navigating with speed, when you learn it and get good with all the Q W nonsense it becomes very easy to use. That said the skill trees are PANTS ON HEAD RETARDED

Fuck you Aidan the difficulty slider is still there except it only has 5 notches now. I put it on Master and inevitably I got to the end of a dungeon, found some unkillable piece of shit and had to turn it down just to get my loot. DIFFICULTY DOES NOT JUST MEAN MAKE THEM HIT HARDER BETHESDA, FUCK YOU. Don't get confused I loev hard gaem but there is good hard and bad hard (in b4 penis joke)

You see, I might find it more difficult because I'm a pure mage. I only use magic. I find it fun, and it gives me a challenge.

-and as the community does, I'm sure there will be a mod released in the near future to adjust the difficulty just the way you like it.



I think this is the only time I will ever say a Bethesda game is purely awesome.

Unless they do an amazing job with The Elder Scrolls VI.
