Bullet time was like cover based shooting at the time, in that it was a mechanism to assist the character in defensive and tactical shooting

They pretty much have, IIRC the only bullet time will be you on an inch of life going slow motion... kill someone and you get most of your health back.

I understand why cover based shooting was implemented

Going around with a "lets pick up this rotating Red cross to replenish my uber health" is unrealistic

But bullettime resolved this by "how do we resolve a weakish person when theres bullets flying everywhere, let them control the game in slower motion"

Worst case they could have a reverse exponential regenerative health model (the closer you get to 100% the slower it takes to regenerate) and this would complement bullet time, since the original had 25% regenerative health

It's a big deal when games you download are also upwards of 20gb but you only have, at best, a 25gb data cap.

Some people in NZ have twice that but it's much more expensive than what the US rates probably are. Some have unlimited but frankly, I'd probably end up gouging my eyes out at the horrible speeds those plans get capped at.

I don't know of any games that are being developed solely for multi-core CPUs, let alone one with 8 cores.

If that's the only game then I consider that the exception, not the rule. Even if a handful of games do it then it's still not really common in comparison to how many games don't.

Though, I'll be lenient, I suppose. More games are starting to be developed for multi-core processors, though I don't know any beyond that mentioned. Maybe I just don't look at system reqs as much I used to/probably should?

I'm not necessarily a big fan of games being developed with the requirements of a multi-core CPU but I suppose they're cheap and common enough now that it probably doesn't matter. I haven't seen a PC in a while being sold without a multi-core CPU in it.
