I find it interesting how time and time again I look at the comments, and I see variations of this argument;
"Don't take the internet so seriously!" vs "If you don't take the internet seriously, you shouldn't use it"
There's probably no defining answer to this situation, my two cents is that as the internet and by extension video games, are becoming more of a mainstream medium for communication, it should be taken somewhat seriously.
As part of having a relationship with Holly, who grew up with parental and brotherly influence to play and enjoy video games, it's interesting to see how general nuclear family AND gender roles have an affect, or can be broken down, in how sons/daughters conform to stereotypes.
There is some generalised truth that Women will have the obstacle of a hobby (the man's hobby) that is between them and their partner. This can be broken down into minor chunks.
Is it an obstacle because the man is obsessed with the hobby? Is it an obstacle because they cannot share the hobby? Is it an obstacle because the Woman has no hobby of her own of equal status?
"Gender is complicated". Only so because of thousands of years of societal evolution. Religion seeks to allow gender to be consistent, but in doing so it sets a standard, and as a standard, it's not agreeable. Some religions "update" or "rethink" how they treat gender, to conform to an update to general social growth. For a lot of morality, religion can serve as a good baseline for moral questions, given that the interpretation is taken generally correct, and that the person using it as a baseline knows there is still some personal development required to "mature".
tl:dr - I don't have any sympathy if you don't want to read it, you most likely conform purely to "Don't take the internet so seriously!" and can pretty much fuck off
