Photorealisitic engine square has created form the ground up.
LOOKS AMAZING.
At first I thought was just some fake video, but it actually incorporates real world scanning which is then implemented into the engine, thus making it lifelike.

Some next-gen lighting dynamics going on there. Complete mystery as to how they do it.
Modeling-wise though it looks like CryEngine 2

Best of both worlds too. Better detail, with a third of production time cut.
They're still working on it, and I have good hopes for it.

What engine was it based on including Crystal (Square Enix, not the Crystal Dynamics engine used for Tomb Raider, Snowblind, DXHR etc) engine before it?

I really get tired of seeing this
What exactly are you looking for?
I can pick out games with good gameplay released over the last year or two off the top of my head in every single existing genre
This 'graphics being prioritised over gameplay' argument is a really tired discussion because we're not at the start of a new gen, we are at the end of the current one. Graphics move forward, it's natural progression.

I was being an idiot, haha. I'm tired of people saying this too. It USED to be the case, but isn't so much now.
On a side note, Norgate from free radical has announced that Crytek head honcho's brought up Timesplitters 4 in a meeting. Needless to say, it caught the attention of Norgate (FRD's & Rare's Sound Designer & Musician). He posted of it in his blog, and he along with the rest of the staff REALLY want to make it. Someone created a facebook page to petition making TS4 (supported by Mr.Norgate).
Jake put up the page this morning on facebook.
