Strong females in videogames

Postby James » Thu Dec 01, 11 9:57 pm

I've got a fascination with strong females in videogames. Be it an admiration for Joan of Arc characters or too attracted to Sigourney Weaver in the Alien movies, I just find the idea of a strong woman the best underappreciated stereotype of character - especially when they aren't sexualised.

Honorable mention - The oversexualised transgender heroine...

I would buy the collectors edition of said game if I could aim for the enemies heart and lance it out then force feed it back to them with the end of my lance

I was reluctant to post GLaDOS (a bit sexualised!) and Shodan because of them lacking a 'strong' trait. Great 'females' in videogames though?, sure.

Moving panels around of a whole testing facility seems pretty strong to me!

It hasn't got that feel about of strength. I always thought it was a prisoner to its own domain. Something it shares with Chell.

To support this, I'd like to point out that GLaDOS resembles a woman hanging upside down in bondage.
