UHHHHHH, WHAT?! (Steam-related technical issues)

So, I experienced a crash today whilst playing Saints Row (thank you AGAIN, AMD) and suddenly saw that I was disconnected from Steam altogether.

Tried playing a game, came up with "unable to sync to Steam cloud". Tried restarting Steam and the PC to no avail. I then went on to the forums to report this and apparently I'm not a recognised user.

DID STEAM JUST DELETE MY FUCKING ACCOUNT?! Or is it just down for maintenance and there have been no warnings about it?

Either way, goes to show that Steam is a truly awful platform.

If anyone could help clarify by trying to login, that would be appreciated.

The Steam service is currently down. Puzzles me as I'm not aware of any maintenance today as the weekly was yesterday.

NOTE: Forum accounts are separate from Steam accounts.

Well-indicated as well (i.e. not at all)

And that explains the inability to login to the forums, Clix.

Steam rocks and I have no reason to use my desktop or IRC thanks to it.

It crashes every time I load it up, and sometimes just crashes while idling.

It crashes while downloading a game (thus causing me to restart the download at one point (fuck that)), it forces one to download an entire game despite having the CD in the disc drive (and yes I tried the command prompt thing suggested).

Yet, it has so many good games and it's the only service to really do that. Either way, fuck Steam.

I guess this fits for a common typical and annoying response:
I don't have that problem, but.. sucks to be you. Seeing as it seems to be an individual case, have you tried to fix it?

edit:

it forces one to download an entire game despite having the CD in the disc drive (and yes I tried the command prompt thing suggested).

So annoying.
