According to 250,000 people, yes, it is.
I think EA has some bad practices but I'm sure there's companies who do worse deeds than they.
Here's a quote from another forum I post on, that I rather agree with:
While the argument that banks, petroleum companies, tobacco companies, etc. are probably ruin the days/lives of more people is relatively sound, everybody already knows that they're evil. You don't see (many) people leaping to the defence of tobacco companies and screaming "YOU SMOKERS ARE ENTITLED FOR WANTING LESS CARCINOGENIC ADDITIVES IN YOUR CIGAGRETTES, STOP BASHING POOR MARLBORO, etc etc". It's general knowledge that these are extremely unsavoury areas of business. Not so, in the case of video games.
A cheeky poll-based award by The Consumerist is a good way to bring attention to companies and other areas of the economy that are simply glossed over or unknown to many people. People may be more inclined to research the price increases, the lack of any sort of industry regulation, and the abysmal business practices of EA et al.
Is EA objectively a worse company than Bank of America and the like? I don't believe so, no.
Is EA more deserving of a round of bad press and mocking? Yes, I think so.
Besides, The Consumerist and 'Worst Company in America' have ripped on banks for literally years. Letting someone else have the brown spotlight isn't so bad.
