So, it has started.

What are you hoping for?

Videogames. We haven't got any so far.

I'm hoping for absolutely nothing (as in, I'm not hoping for or against) because I find E3 completely overrated.

And all of those sound uninteresting and uninspired.

It's quite saddening that that line-up consists primarily of sequels.

Where's the videogames?

People say how they are sick of seeing sequels but new franchises don't create a lot of buzz. It's always the 2nd and 3rd games in a series that creates the most hype. It goes downhill from there unless there is a major revamp in game design.

I honestly don't know where you're getting these videogames from, the Microsoft conference was a rehash of every conference since 2009. 20 minutes of 2 exclusives, multi-platform exposure and the rest is just casual and/or kinect overload with a strong side-order of look what the Xbox can do that has nothing to do with videogames.

E3 isn't even about videogames Poor, it's seriously an investor/sponsorship wank fest.

EA's show was so boring

SIM FUCKING CITY

Sim City was the best part about it, but recent Sim City 5 news distance me from it. Oh well, not like I'm ever going to buy any other EA videogame ever again anyway.

Best part about the EA conference is that the CEO said "years ago the game you bought was the game you got", considering their practice with DLC and rushed development I'm more than happy to agree with him.

Ubisoft show starting now

The South Park RPG actually has me excited. No idea why, just seems like a neat game.

Halo 4 was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

BlOPs 2 looks like...anyway.

Tomb Raider looks decent. May pick it up on the cheap, won't buy a sequel though.

Usher was the low point for me.

On the positive side, I am finding myself more and more interested in the Wii U.

Where exactly are you getting your data from?

How can you say "new franchises don't create lot of buzz" when there's been hardly any new franchises in the past 5-7 years?

There's been some fantastic indie development but not much in the way of new IP from the top dogs like EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc. There's not because they make money. Bobby Kotick once said that he'd continue to make Guitar Hero games so long as they're a cash cow. He'll continue to do so with Call of Duty for the same reason, and other developers follow similar regimes because they also make money.

A lot of people in the industry have stated the biggest problem with new IP is the risk involved, and this is true. New IP is just that: New. Franchises like Call of Duty, Battlefield or something like Final Fantasy and Resident Evil have massive followings that will keep them going for many more years to come, but new IP doesn't have that. It only has a concept and the developers/publishers have to convince both players and stockholders that that concept will actually sell.

I understand why sequels are made but I also think some new IP would be nice but honestly, after games like Kingdoms of Amalur, I wouldn't be surprised if EA don't bother trying.

This is why I don't like E3. Like I said, it's overrated.

Well here's a new IP...

Great trailer. I hope it will be a real survival horror game rather than something like the last 2 Resident Evils.

But it isn't new to E3, it got revealed last year at the Spike VGAs.

Would be nice, not betting on it, though. :/

Was anyone else dissapointed with the Resi 6 trailer?

The worst thing is, Leon's section was supposed to be the throw back to the "old style horror" from Resi 1/2/3 days

"EDIT" I missed the Sony conference last night but from what i heard, i didn't miss much

Yeah Sony's was boring, but the press release of The Last of Us (people seen a month ago) was quite swell.

OLD

Sony and Microsoft also low for showing off multi-platforms off as exclusives.

Thought the Vita AC looked stunning, your right about the game that's a blatant Smash rip off though, and seriously , who cares about Harry Potter.

The Last Of Us looked amazing, i'm surprised at the lack of talk about Beyond though, it looked interesting to say the least.

Microsoft had a terrible conference, hardly any focus on actual games, talking more about shitty entertainment services, Sony's wasn't much better, but at the very least there was more of a focus on actual gaming.

Ubisoft has been the best so far, should be interesting now to see what Nintendo has to offer.

Ubisoft wins the main conferences, the big 3 lose hard.

Who would have thought the best game of E3 (Watch_Dogs) was demonstrated on a high end PC?

It isn't the worst E3 for any of the parties involved (there wasn't any terrible or embarassing conferences but they were super boring), however it is the worst E3 overall.
