Sigh...
I have never been so underwhelmed. Everything seemed very lazy and vague.
Also, fuck off Blizzard with your re-release of a year old game.
Anyone else's thoughts?

The machines are running the games better but the games have already been done. They may as well stop ripping off old ideas and just remake old classics with best graphics.
Like Hollywood's doing with film

The Wii U is sick. I was considering picking one up.

I have a question: power. How powerful will the Octo-core AMD processor with 8GB of RAM be?
2 years behind a computer, 3? At least we're away from the disgusting Cell processor finally...could even get some decent PC ports the 'traditional' layout of the thing."; even official Playstation magazine are suggesting it shares a lot of similarities with the new Xbox.

11:03 - Arbie: real talk
11:04 - Arbie: i think the sony conference a little better than we normally see at e3 despite having many elements of what isn't fucking exclusive or a videogame. there were zero internet celebrities and the casual market segment as boring as it was was something that sorta appeals to everyone
11:04 - PS4 HAS NO GAEMS entered chat.
11:05 - b: theyre probably saving the ultra retard stuff for their e3 presentation
11:05 - Arbie: can't wait for usher

Oh it certainly was better than E3, but it wasn't exciting in the slightest; they didn't even show off the console design.

If true, that's a huge difference.

Alright, Killzone: Shadowfall just looks amazing for a console game though. I AM impressed with that. Not to mention that the PS4's OS isn't bloated like the PS3's. The share function is pretty cool too, where you can record picture/video moments of any part in any game, and upload it. Doesn't tax the CPU at all because there is a separate chip for video compression/decompression.

Looks like a boring shooter with nice graphics.

My impression was "huh, looks nice I guess", then the boring gunplay starts and slumped into disappointment.

Lack of backwards compatibility is horrific

Yeah, thats generally always how KZ games have been.
I know
Danny it's crazy, they aren't supporting ANY PSN games from PS3. In other words, everyone has just wasted hundreds - thousands of dollars on something they may never get to play again down the road.
The controllers look sexy though. I think id like the feel of it too. Sony probably took some pointers from MS.

Yup, all games but Knack and Killzone were demoed on PC. DriveClub and the UE4 demo (wow, look at how pathetic it looked to last year's edition of the same thing) ran on the PS4 but they weren't
video games
.
What's more of a joke is all of Square-Enix's segment. A trailer for something we seen last year and a big surprise at something actually new at E3...
For the positive news, at least WD looks good on PC!

Watch_Dogs looks pretty sweet, hope it's not scripted as hell.
Knack does look interesting, but I'm not going to buy a PS4 for just that.
Media Molecule's lazy attempt at making an SDK is making me angry too.

I see the PS4 as being another household media box (b/c of 4k video capability) that plays half-decent games.

It doesn't have 4K, all games were displayed in 1080p.

I should have typed in more detail; my bad lol. The PS3 can play videos (not games) in 4K.

My only question is: Why should I even bother?

Don't bother.
Wait until the PS4 shrinks in physical size, and until the price skyrockets down just as the PS3 did. THEN it will be a proper-sized entertainment unit for casual shooting games, with free online services and 4k films (provided you've even bothered giving half a shit about 4k TVs lol)
In other news... I've heard that Sony is planning on using the Vita as a controller option, just as Nintendo has done with their WiiU controller.

Honestly, the fact it doesn't have backwards compatibility is a real deal-breaker for me.
As for 4K, I honestly believe that to still be in "gimmick" stage, quite frankly.

At work we've been shooting video in 4K for two years now, but I don't see 4K arriving to consumer market anytime soon either.
That said I think it's still somewhat noteworthy that PS4 can play 4K. Just a couple of years ago you needed pricy professional hardware to do that.
