Is it backwards compatible with Gamecube games?

I'm thinking of getting one for Christmas, but only if I can play Gamecube games as well on it.

I reccomend you get it for X-mass,it is backwards compatible with every single console game by Nintendo except the hand-held ones of course,so yes you can play gamecube games on it,if you pop the top of the wii's case open,there's a little flap/hatch with 4 gamecube controller ports,and 2 memory card inport slots.

It's truely a great system,i really hope you get one,although you probly will,considering Nintendo said they plan on shipping 10 million Wii's by the end of the year,high chance you'l get one.

10million Wii's by the end of the year my arse lol They've only manufactured about 500,000 units and sold about 200,000 (if I remember correctly).

But I'm doubting I can get one for Christmas cause it will probably be sold out or W/E. Loads of people say the novelty of it will wear off after a while, but I still want one!

I think you have it mixed up CP lol No one can sell 10mil copies in 1 month. I know that the console companies have something going on about the first people to reach 10million win, but that was just 360/PS3, as the Wii isn't a real next gen console lol ¬__¬

Well they said they're gonna have 10 million by the end of 2006,so i belive them,ive been to atleast 5 different stores to see if they have them in stalk while grabbing games,and everyone one had Wii's instock,not exactly alot,about 2-5 each but still some,and i dont think Wii will ware off any time soon,PS3 sold 234,000 units,Wii 348,000 units,and Xbox 360 4,586,000 units,PS3 may be nice but its over priced,buy wii and save your soul from filthy boring shit like religion and god. :twisted:

Firstly:

They said they will have 4 million manufactured, and shipped, worldwide, by the end of the year. DECEMBER 31st.

They said they will have 6 million TOTAL manufactured, and shipped, worldwide, by the end of the FISCAL year. March 31st.

And the wii has sold 650,000~ consoles, world wide.

They ALSO said, they hope to sell 1 million consoles, worldwide, by the end of the year, Decemeber 31st. Since the Wii hasn't hit europe yet, that is very possible

I'd like to know where you get your information from Cureless?

PS3 has sold 327,000~
Wii has sold 650,000~
Xbox 360 has sold 7,673,000~

Well my info is dated a month or two,i dunno,i havent looked into new info in a while cause after i baught my PS3 and Wii i stopped looking at all the news,all i did was play and buy more games :-P

so pardon me if my resources are a little rusty,as i have yet to check out the new stuff for some time.

I didn't say anyone cares that i have a PS3 Wii and Xbox 360,i was mentioning i have all 3 of the,therefore showing i have all the next gen consoles,so i didn't say anyone has to care i have all 3 systems and a bunch of sweet games,i just said it for convsersation

I just learn to budget the non-important stuff (ie food.. etc), and buy things a bit at a time.. although I would be loaded if I hadn't spent tons on Xmas presents.

That's just plain not true. Both the PS1 and the PS2 had and still have great games. The PS2 still provides gameplay to match XBOX 360, albeit the graphics aren't as good..
