I have no idea whoever did it and why they did this. I understand the general idea, but it has made general chat contain a lot more inactive and threads moved even more inactive over the new problems the combination has brought.

First of all, I don't think users appreciate this every time they want to see a community post that isn't a journal.

But then we've got this:

Seriously. The posts labeled as community are very indistinguishable from other posts, so you'd have to open up the topic to see if its a journal or a Birthday thread which annoys me quite a lot. Not only this, community posts are spaced from days, weeks, and months which all fitted perfectly in General Chat. I tell you, look at General Chat right now and look at the mess you see with all the moving.

Here are 3 votes, I'll be voting for option 2.

(For option 3: I don't think anything warrants 2 small forums instead of the huge one where General Spam will be more popular than General Chat if option 1 or 3 pass. But you may think differently.)

Definitely option two.

The sheer amount of journals above a topic is just annoying, it takes up the whole screen until you scroll down to find a "HBD JOJO1234 WHO VISITED THE FORUM ONCE AND POSTED A REQUEST FOR A TITS MOD"

Not necessary, was fine the way it was. Unless you have some mod to somehow bring down the size of those bloody journals...

I liked it the way it was before you moved it!

I feel demotivated to make a serious thread next to discussions of a vacation of a forum user and a dozen of birthday topics, and at the same time I want a place for such topics and this place shouldn't be in "Spam".

General chat was stewing in it's own juice. I don't think it would completely solve the problem, but it's a step in the right direction.

So option 2 is a no-go.

There's a problem with a long page - yes. I can try to solve it on the template level of phpBB, just tell me how you want it to look like.

a forced argument

to distinuish journal requests make a local rule "add 'journal request' behind the topic title..."

or we can move them to "site and forum questions" which remains pretty inactive

Sorry but I also vote for option 2 :|

I think it makes alot more sence and you should take it back to the original.

I say everything back to the original would make sence.

Since Community is more like General... And people would be confused to where to post stuff if you understand what I mean.

that makes sense if you think about dxalpha.com/forum as a forum about Deus Ex and nothing more than Deus Ex

then General chat should really remain as it was - mainly about vacations, birthdays and other personal events, that would be absolutely normal for such type of a forum

but judging by the activity of the bottom part of the forum index, and not only activity, dxalpha.com/forum went a little bit further than just being a Deus Ex forum

And I don't want the fire to die out.

Definitely option 2. Just my opinion, makes more sense, makes less "clutter" and confusion.

Yeah, "all you have to say" is written all over the forum. Seriously, do you really have to do that?
