Depends on what you want to do. Some .png files can be 2 kb size while the same information stored in .jpg - about 20.

But a lot of sites do not allow .png extensions...and sometimes you can forget to save in high-colour qualities...

You can't store virii in .PNG .

Another person who thinks the plural of virus is virii. Is the plural of walrus walrii? Just because it ends it "us" doesn't mean its origin is Latin.

vi·rus Audio pronunciation of "virus" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (vrs)
n. pl. vi·rus·es

1.
1. Any of various simple submicroscopic parasites of plants, animals, and bacteria that often cause disease and that consist essentially of a core of RNA or DNA surrounded by a protein coat. Unable to replicate without a host cell, viruses are typically not considered living organisms.
2. A disease caused by a virus.
2. Something that poisons one's soul or mind: the pernicious virus of racism.
3. Computer Science. A computer virus.
