Question About Ads

Postby Mr. Tastix » Sat May 26, 07 4:28 am

I don't know if the belongs in here but I'm putting it here anyway, move it if it's in the wrong board pl0x.

This is not about the Forum's ads or anything really. I was just wondering which fucking file do you edit to put them where you put yours?

I'm trying to add my Google Ad pretty much where you put yours, but I don't know which file to edit and where (I assume the index.php, viewtopic.php and viewforum.php files). This is a rough assumption.

I'd appreciate any help. All I need to know really is where to put them and what files to put them in and I'll be fine. Thanks.

Woops, you're right. It is the .tpl files LOL. I've done this before and forgot (only I never added an Advert, I added extra links/copyright).

And overall_header.tpl should work - I'll test now after backing up files lol.

hey Psychotic you know much about html? I don't suppose you would be interested in helping me set up a deus ex based website. I have the space, so all I need is to give you access

I haven't got a clue on these things, so all I would be able to do is add content.

If you are interested please pm me

I PMed you. And also, the files are called - index_body.tpl, viewtopic_body.tpl and viewforum_body.tpl. Not index.tpl, viewtopic.tpl and viewforum.tpl (editing now lol).

EDIT: Adverts can't go in the overall_body.tpl at all. As the index_body.tpl is what has the forum listing, etc in it. The overall_body.tpl is for adding extra links to the navigation menu or editing existing ones.

For example, on the c3s theme for this Forum (in the Classic theme it says "Web Site") in the nav menu it says "Alpha Homepage" - to get that there you edit overall_header.tpl.

In case with Google AdSense they have a rule in their TOS saying that you should place the advertisement only on pages with actual content.

Try placing the banner in the very beginning of the file.

I did, on all files (I actually saw you guys had did this when I looked in the index.php source and tried it myself). Now it worked, but for some reason it just won't show up for me. I dunno if it does for anyone else though. Same applies for my site.
