Those two videos are my evidence of my thoughts on Die Antwoord... Explain how they are talented, explain how they are even remotely intelligent or morally correct? o,0
Die Antwoord were ruined for me when I realised they're a real group and not some joke band, and that they're actually quite serious about their serious lyrics.
Funny as fuck though, even if they're all meth heads. White trash group if you ever saw one.
This is not the first time I see so much dislike towards that group. I do think, though, that something this brilliant can't exist without some sort of counterbalance (being all those unable to see through the act). If they were a mere joke band - something anyone with an ounce of creativity can pull off - we'd forget about them after a single click. Die Antwoord is something we're bound to hear more from. Tip for the daft: their interviews and performances are meticulously riddled with hints that make the essence of this group obvious to anyone paying attention. Here's a little quote describing Ninja's side project:
MaxNormal.TV are a hip-hop crew with a difference. They perform live wearing 3 piece suits while frontman MaxNormal delivers his motivational speaking style raps to the audience. Max also illustrates all his lyrics to help the audience follow. These images are projected onto a big screen above the live performers and are triggered live to the beat by Max’s personal assistant, Yolandi Visser. The MaxNormal.TV live shows work like high-energy hip-hop power point presentation, perfect for the club, concert or boardroom.
There are plenty people who actually prefer this, somewhat more intelligent project, to Die Antwoord. I myself can't help it but to see some similarities with the now defunct Psychic TV in what their concepts involve.
