Musical elitists moving onto "Mature music"

I'm going to keep this short.

I don't get musical elitists, namely a lot of those losers who would like nothing but extreme metal back 4 years ago or something. They've moved from obscurity to obscurity then finally get bored of the genre when too many people get into your favourite underground black metal bands then they move to Animal Collective or Neutral Milk Hotel saying the exact same thing about their deep ambient drone metal.

The 'fashion' is what strikes me the most, they swapped greasy long hair for shorter wild hair for thick rimmed glasses without lenses and BHS jumpers.
