Miike

Somehow, while watching one Ki-Duk Kim movie after another, I ended up searching for a Japanese film director Takashi Miike. Little did I know that I would end up watching 10 movies directed by him, in a row, and counting. I am quite astonished by the content of his movies, to a point where I think Id need a rehab of a month or so, just to be able to stomach the western bullcrap again. I wonder if anyone else is a fan of this guy? Due to certain details it is possible that someone here has seen the movie "Izo", but that is so far definitely the only movie from his briefcase that I would not recommend unless you know what you are getting yourself into.

Judging by the sheer lack of replies I take it the name doesnt really ring a bell? It is time to change that, NOW! I honestly dont know any better asian directors and since thats coming from Kim and Kitano fan I suppose it means something. :)

If you want shocking: Ichi The Killer or Visitor Q.

If you want epic school drama battle: Crows Zero I/II

If you want horror: Audition

If you want yakuza drama with that extra ounce of miike madness: Like A Dragon (there are plenty titles following this description, actually)

If you want superman-style comedy/action with miike flavor: Zebraman or Yatterman

Going to watch Dead or Alive (trilogy) tonight, going to make 12th movie Ive watched thus far, 50 something to go.
