Batman, Batman Returns by Tim Burton and Batman Begins, Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan are examples of excellent movies but I feel that they are their own movies in their own right that took elements unfaithful to Batman over the generations especially the first cases of modern Batman such as Frank Miller's reboot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_Year_One
It's a popular DC nerd's opinion that Tim Burton ruined Batman, I agree but the movie is still great in it's own right. While the comics leaned to adjust to the world of Burton's Batman films, others thrived on classics such as the animated series easing the new changes. In my opinion, the best Batman film will always be the animated classic:

It is simply amazing.
Oddly enough while Christopher Nolan's Batman adaptations are still unfaithful they're a lot closer to the roots of the modernisation than Tim Burton's. I loved the Scarecrow for instance, and Heath's Joker is effectively wicked yet does not resemble the comic Joker, but neither did Nicholson's.
That's why they aren't good super hero films because they only derive from the comics on simple character features (e.g Batman being a rich guy with dead parents using lots of gadgets and preparation time), but I stress they're still excellent movies.
Iron Man is just stupidly faithful and keeps the spirit of most incarnations of Iron Man in a present day setting. I don't think anyone argued at the original film not being faithful. That's why I believe Iron Man is the only good super hero movie, it barely changed anything to fit into the present day cinema.

The atmosphere of Dark Knight was majorly off, everything was much too clean, too modern and had no real 'noir' factor. Yes, Heath was damn good.
Give me Mark Hamill any day.
