Ireland to win Euro 2012!

On a seperate topic, score predictions for Saturday morning?

I'm thinking a draw this time oddly

It was a good match, but the point was more positive for Man United than it was for us.

Lucas - for the first time under our team when Alonso was playing - was playing awfully. He was completely unrequired in our lineup and the Henderson substitute was positive.

Skittles hamfooted volleys in the air were stupid and almost cost us the ball many times. His final one was absolutely annoying because we had a great attack on the last few minutes and... up it goes into the sky.

Downing and Enrique should never be played together on the far left, Downing made little impact on the game because of this as Enrique can handle his own.

We shouldn't try to cross in from miles away without Carroll, Suarez wasn't going to get it like that.

Without Carroll, Suarez needs to play a more active center role, he can't play on the left. He and Dirk under those circumstances should play in front and behind eachother like how we beat Man United last year. Their defense was even weaker last Saturday.

Dirk was immobile for the first half, much worse than the criticism we normally get for Carroll.

Enrique is awesome in general.

We should have got Carroll or Craig on as an impact sub to push forward. Can't believe we only used 1 sub - must be a mistake in hindsight.

I feel Evra has got himself a ban.

Hernandez was great.

Rooney playing an awkward role, but more suited to him than Phil Jones - thought that wool was playing as a playmaker at times...

Giggs does another 2009 esqe wall break.

Ref blind for both sides

STEVIE G FREE KICK GOAL = BASED

I also found the lack of attacking subs surprising, Henderson impressed me coming on, Enrique was superb, i also thought Adam has one of his best game's, Evra is a disgrac to football, has been proven twice in the past to be lying about being called racist names, he's just angry because Suarez had the handle on him. Kuyt and Downing had poor game's, was nice to see Gerrard's reuturn, wasn't MOTM for me but played fine for someone returning from a long injury.

James summed it up pretty well.

I feel Liverpool played really well but Alex Ferguson got what he wanted out of the game.

Anyone catch the Rangers vs Liverpool friendly? Our reserves/first team got beat by their reserves. :(

I was en route back to Dublin so i missed it, heard a lot of our injured players made their first apperances tho so it's not all bad, bad result against a terrible team but at least it's a friendly.

Watched part of it... Lost interest after 1-0 (Í'm such a lousy fan)

Anyway can't give a proper opinion on it, started out pretty well but that's not saying much

Did Carroll play the entire match?

vs Norwich = the unluckiest game we've played for a long time.

Created many chances and dominated field. Pepe at fault for coming out but that happens.

Move onward.

I'm really sick of saying we're unlucky. Not saying it's not true but ughhh.

Seriously though, 90th min sub Kuyt off for Agger. What the fuck was that?

Also what do you think of Carroll?

PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 11 7:51 pm

we need to make more subs

also yeah we were unlucky, we were dominating.

It happens quite a bit against these teams though. A period of total domination and nothing going in. It is bad luck but maybe some need to be more clinical finishers.

Also, editted my other post asking what you make of Andy Carroll so far

he came on for 10 minutes

Think he should have started? Does he live up to his 35m price tag so far? Does he need more time?

I'm not a Carroll bashers, at first I was quite the contrary, but I can't say he has impressed.
Apart from the performance against Man City last season*

35 million is an over inflated price and we needed another striker, otherwise we'd be stuck in 2007-2010 again dependent on one striker.

He needs more playing time.

Agger got brought on so they could play 3 at the back and push Johnson and Enrique forward as wing backs, too late to do it but at least it was in the right mindset

After seeing yesterday's results, i am a little deflated at the missed opportunity.

At least we are creating chances and looking dangerous tho, would be a lot worse if were creating nothing, i reckon we'll be ok this season. Top 4 is very possible between us, Arsenal and Spurs, and a Cup run is possible too, would love to see off Stoke in the CC but hard task there.

Man City are the best team this season. It has finally paid off for them.

Tell me, do either of you woolybacks keep up with the insides and outsides if the football industry?, such as Ian Ayre's suggestion for individual TV rights?

PostPosted: Mon Oct 24, 11 12:28 pm

I agree a lot over what he say's but i don't see it changing any time soon, the smaller clubs in the Premier League would go nuts, the likes of Wigan and Bolton would lose out so badly, but then clubs like us and the Manc's would benefit greatly.

A club like ours where we arn't going toe to toe with the Man City's and Chelsea's off the world need every penny they can get.

It will effectively destroy English football, Man United and Liverpool's fanbase will propel them off into a Real Madrid/Barcelona proportion but we're getting destroyed by Man City and Chelsea's monopoly anyway.

As a Liverpool fan, would prefer individual TV rights before we fall victim to City/Chelsea. Better to have 4 teams than 2.

Liverpool are shit in front of goal recently. Something like 40 shots between the Norwich and Stoke game, and only 2 goals

And yeh I keep up to date with the insides and outsides of football. I think that Liverpool having individual TV rights is wrong because in Spain, Barca and Real Madrid have their own TV rights, and as good it is for them financially, the lower teams such as Malaga get a tiny amount of money. In the premier league, the money is evenly spread out, making it much more competative, and making the teams in a stronger financial position. In a selfish point of view, the individual TV right would be great for Liverpool.

The best thing to happen to football in years, in my opinion is financial fair play. It means that teams can't spend more than they make. This is great in a way because Portmouth mark 2 can't happen, and teams such as City, Real, AC dont have as much spending power. There is a loophole to this legislation though :( City have a £400million naming rights for the stadium by Ethiad. The guy who owns Ethiad is the nephew of City's owner. So there, they have an additional £400million without fairly gaining it. Meanwhile, Liverpool are hunting for naming rights partner, however they will be very lucky to receive half of the fee.

Oh and I think Liverpool are lacking a poacher. Suarez is a amazing player, however there isn't a player who makes use of the openings he creates. An example is Hernandez. The little Mexican fucker keeps on getting the goals, he is always in the right position at the right time. Suarez is more of a individualist, who creats his own chances, rather than pounces on oppourtunities like a poacher does. Perhaps Carroll can be this man, I don't know, what I do know is that he needs to start scoring soon.

Oh and I hate 5:30 kick offs.

Liverpool only lack a few players to become a big force again but we're already making great strides.

Bellamy as a sub so far has looked like a master stroke

I do believe Carroll has the potential to become absoloute class, it mite just take a while, if we can afford to give it.

Suarez is in a league of his own.

Henderson finally looks like he could be a real star for the future,

Downing has dipped a little of late hoping to see an improvement from him.

Adam has been steady so far, no complaints on him.

Enrique has been more or less excellent, an odd poor performance dosn't take away how good he's been.
