My internet connection...

Postby Gishank » Mon Dec 25, 06 1:55 pm

Well, it's not to do with deus ex, but lately my internet has been jumping quite violently.

I should have 100 down / 96 up, kb, on avarage.

But at points in the day i get....

4927869.43 / 86136 , kb.

Or i can get really low speeds like...

23 / 1 , kb....

Can anyone help me find out whats going on, because i can't contact my isp, as it's christmas.

Are you sure that the server, you were downloading from, could give more speed to you?

Well downloading things can have different speeds. It depends on your connection, how good of a connection you have to the sites server, and how much you are downloading.

Yes, but it's jumping VIOLENTLY. On any server, but high and low on each server.

They do 10mb at the most, 8mb is the fastest most reliable in the UK atm, so Klop, trust us, its wrong ;)

I said it jumps badly.

Sometimes it's 10-20 kbps, and sometimes it's massive amounts like that.

This topic already lost its sense since the first post.
Kloppy just tried to be special again.
It's obvious, that the speed test downloaded the file from his CACHE.

End of debate.

On my radio ethernet connection a 4 or 5 years ago I used to get a sudden leap of 120-250 KBps speed each time when I was starting to download a file. Usually such leap lasted from 1 to 5 seconds. The official maximum speed was 256k there = 32 KBps.
My friend who is a system administrator told me that this could happen because the "traffic limiting system on provider's server wasn't working so quick".

So believe me, sometimes that may happen and its not related to cache.

Come on, dae..
38MB/s is just B U L L S H I T.
That has nothing in common with a bandwidth limiting system.

It could be a synergetic effect of both limiting system and cache
