Dae, probably because its the only other option, if you don't click on "show all devices"

Anyways, I remember if you have an unpatched DX, there are random places in DX, where your DX would just freeze at, as some texture (I think it was one of the monitor's textures) somehow just fucked it up.

But you're obviously playing multiplayer so it can't be that, because it's already patched with MP... I assume its the D3D renderer which got corrupt then.

Download the attachment, unzip it and put it in your DeusEx\System folder, then change your rendering device to Direct 3D again.

Well, I guess echelon's idea would be the only thing you can try now...

So: http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/dxglr17.zip

Download the archive, unzip it to your deusex\system folder. Then, when you have the screen for changing your renderer, click on the "show all devices" option. Then you should see OpenGL between those options and choose it.

Should be fixed then.

D3D crashes for Garman for unknown reasons, so it's better to use OpenGL, because software rendering isnt really great.

Sounds like OpenGL's lovely brightness issue. When you load DX, press the talk button, then press backspace at least 4 times, after that type brightness and press enter. Do that a few times more and you hopefully should see something.

Alternatively, you could post your deusex.ini up here, and we'll see if your brightness is the cause.

Ok.

Garman, to get your system details, do this:

1: Press Start.
2: Choose Run.
3: In the Run window, type DXDiag
4: Wait for the little filling up bar to fill up, then press the Save All Information button. Save to the Desktop.
5: Add the file as an attachment here.

I thought you downloaded the updated OpenGL renderer? Because I just noticed the settings of OpenGL aren't the one from the updated renderer =\

Well it seems you haven't installed the updated renderer properly, could be thats already the problem >_<

Edit: just add clixed@gmail.com on msn and ill try fixing it through remote control, as I think it could take ages otherwise >_<

I know a few other people who experienced that problem with black screen after following the instructions in /kb/. If you solve this please let me know or just add an explanation to kb.

Also I noticed people tend to skip the text on the site and use Unreal OpenGL renderer, not Deus Ex one.
