Dear Tracer,
i'm sure that GameSpy took care about anti-hack/crack protection. Well, everything can be cracked, as russians say, but it takes time. And well, i cannot say anything exact, the situation requires a detailed study.
I recommend you another download of Deus Ex GOTY (full) from ftp://ftp.manstone.net/Games/DeusEx/DX1/gamedistr/
There are 7 files. After downloading, run .exe one (program) and wait few minutes (may be more or less, depends on your computer).
If it didnt launch an installer (another program that installs Deus Ex itself on your computer), extract all the files to a certain directory with saving paths, and run file with a name like setup.exe
It's not hard.
