Which cpu is better? A 3.06 celeron or a 2.4 northwood p4? (for dxing)

The Celeron D 3.06Ghz is the best processor out of the two... However, both would run DeusEx smoothly.

I have a celeron. I would choose the other one. The Celeron freezes DX. The game freezes your entire computer when you have celeron and Direct3D Render combined. I say the other one. Celeron, fail

Maybe it's your fault or a fault of your particular system, combination of software, etc.

Celeron is one of the best low-spec requirements processors out there. It may not be the best processor in the world, but its speed compared with that northwood one makes it superior. I have a Celeron 2.2 Ghz on this current pc, and it runs Deus Ex at a nice speed. Before i got a new graphics card, Deus Ex would freeze occasionally for unknown reasons... So i presume your graphics card is outdated... Most likely a GeForce MX 440 SE?

Perhaps, but not necessarily.
Back in 2000, I was able to play DX with my P3 500MHz and a ATI Rage 128 Fury Pro.

You're the one who fails here, as you do not have that computer.

I don't fail, i just spent around 3 grand on building a custom pc which requires too much power. You fail for not reading the topic.

DONT GO WITH AMD. I can't stand AMD processors.. I find them amazingly slow next to intel.

I think anyone who spends £3,000 on a computer needs to go on a long walk and re-concider their life-style.
