Postby ~M3GG4~ » Thu Sep 20, 07 6:12 pm

I'm not sure but i think thats its ok to go here so ...

Recently my McAffee security center has been poping up saying " We have removed a Trojan from your computer"
yet its the same one each time

and it also says " unwanted program , juan spyware" i click remove, yet the program is still popping up.

And now, wheni have run deus ex it says this, constantly in a box, thus minusing to my desktop page from DX.

heres the image.

Note that the error shown only happen when DX is up.

Though there is no image...

Update McAffe. Delete the file manually with CMD.

Des,

What you wanna do is make a note of the infected file, delete it in SAFE MODE (or, as rightly said, cmd), and then (if you know what/where/how/who the file is) - replace the file with the original uninfected one.

PS: DXS ain't gonna have a good image if you go around spelling "recruiting" wrong :P

Des.

Find The File. Get the exact location of the file.

Start > Run > Type CMD

Then Type DEL <location>

Then Hit enter, it should be gone for good.

Hm, get something like AVG_AntiSpyware. Also type in.. the command that lets you delete the startups. Ah, it's MSConfig.

In MSConfig, goto the services tab, check "hide all microsoft services", and then you'll be presented with a list of shit that's running at the moment.
Delete anything that looks dodgy or you know you don't need.

Then, goto the startup tab, and delete any items you know you don't need (you need to be fairly certain that u dont need them).

Also, assuming you have windows xp pro, goto administrative tools --> services, and stop&disable any services you don't want/need running.

And finally - download spybot search n destroy, update it etc and do a full scan (it'll take ages but it's worth it). Also download ccleaner and configure it/run it (takes only a few mins at most). Defrag ur hard drive regularly, and run ur virus scanner regularly (altho I would personally say to disable antivirus software and anything you dont rly need while playing dx).

WHoa... long reply... sorry, lol. BEen on the caffeine again! BUt yeah - most of the above will probably in no way help ur problem, but at least ur pc will be in better shape for playing dx =)
