Deus Ex Alpha

I just installed dx again. I joined a server and the game keeps glitching after 2 seconds, then normal, then again spazzing out, and again. ? What weird is that the I can switch the weapons fast, and the assault rifle fires fast. Any ideas? I reinstalled it, same problem. Also, when I click on a server with my mouse, it doesn't do anything other than highlight it, won't join: I have to press enter. Maybe this game doesn't work well with sempron processors? I tried win 98 mode, that didn't work.

actually, it is still glitching...but I restart and then its not?

ok. yea, I'm not running more than one instance. I think my comp is just buggy. I installed a new graphics card, and now the bugs stopped but the screen is dark! ? so I have it on 10 brightness and its stilll dark

um the gamma correction helped. Oddly, now windows xp is bright too. lol

What card you got? ATI or Nvidia?

Gah my max fps is like 30 =/

Nvidia GeForec MX 420 PCI card.
OpenGL renderer (can't remember the version).

Currently I'm playing DX with all gfx settings set to low, res @ 640X480, refresh 85Hz, LODBias 1.5, 16bit texs true, all sound settings to lowest quality, detail tex off shinysurfaces off, volumetric lighting off etc etc.

Shitty, eh? I recently upped all gfx settings to full and detailmax 2 stead of my normal 0, and i was shocked how good DX graphics actually are for it's age.

So anyway.... oops I just hijacked the thread...

Lol, I think my OpenGL, along with the WebSupport Guide are the most read in the KB! =D

yea, the knowledge base rocks. @ shinobi, there are more tweaks you can do to lower graphics and increase fps.

30 is fine. Anything below 10 and you should start to be worried lol.

My usual FPS is 60 and usually 30 inside fights. But that is because I have shit computer...

Lol, I hope you know what you're doing. Switching it on with a slight internal error can fry the mother-board, etc, and even blow half the fuses if your house.

Example:

Someone in my college thought it would be clever that after dis-mantaling and re-assembling an old computer to plug it in and turn it on. It powered on for about 2 seconds before smoke billowed out and every computer on the row was shut down by the trip switch lol.

Ouch lol gutted.

My mate was going to put his 800wat ( I think ) back into his computer after thinking he fixed it. So he told his mum 'Don't test it it's ok just put it straight in'

Luckily his mum tested it, because it blew up in there kitchen with smoke everywere!

Luckily it was only a £80 pound Power Supply that broke, not the whole computer!
