Heres my PC details

1.24 GHZ , wirless connection NETGEAR , graphics card NVIDA 5200 Fx , uses NORTON 360 , 108 Mps wirless connection (already said) , old processor , unkown make of PC , is that all you need to know? 100% bandwidth to this server , no other programs running.

I very much doubt your netspeed is 108mbps!!

Jesus how much that must cost...

I think your pblem is your wireless. Get the latest drivers.

Mps it the wirless speed not the BT connection speed im sorry , i would love to have 100 megs , but no.

So would I! Lol.

Put it this way, my wireless USB adaptor connects to my router at 54Mbps, and my router's modem connects out to TalkTalk at 8123kbps (round 8meg).

I''ve taken a look over ur dx.ini, but I've saved it somewhere and can't fkn find it.

I'll post it in a minute or 2.

Right.

I couldn't change anything without knowing ur bandwidth, so I'll tell ya how to do it.

Okay - a few recommendations:

1. Get your upload bandwidth from your isp or router config page or something (mine is 446kbps, which is kinda crappish).
2. GEt ur upload bandwidth in bytes per second (use google: "xxxkbps to bytes per second" without quotes)
3. Divide ur upload bandwidth by the no of players ya want. I see urs is set to 16, so let's say u have 500kbps u/l. You have 64000 bytes per second, 64000/16=4000.
4. Your answer from part 3 goes into DeusEx.ini in the "MaxClientRate=" value under the IP bit.

A MCR over 5000 is considered okish. 2600 is 56k, 5000 is ISDN. If your MCR ends up being lower than about 5000 i would recommend lowering your player number.

Hope that helped.

PS: Change the game engine cache from 4 megs to 12 megs or 8 megs that helped me a bit. Never know, it mite work.

1.24GHz is quite low, I honestly don't expect it to run a server properly, if it has more than 3 players.

It still should run a server with upto 16 players. As, DeusEx only requires a Pentium 3, 300MHz to run.
If you see my point.

True, but DXMP players hosting dedicated and playing on the same machine will need a fairly large amount of RAM and a couple of Xeon's do work properly!

But then again my Pentium3 450MHz 128Mb RAM system runs okay with 4 players. Ish.

Are you sure it runs good for the rest too? :P

Never said that did I!?!? :p

It's sorta ok. Ping of around 90-120 for UK players.

...and bout 900 during fights.

Heh.

wait a sec. what does the cpu have to do with it, I think his settings are not right, or his upload bandwith is too low. Do cntrl alt delete, and look, I doubt a server running dx with a pentium III will even utilize 35% of cpu.

How much RAM do you have to start off?

My old computer downstairs which I used to host on would handle up to about 8 players, but I couldn't join the server without it lagging out or browse the internet, unless I hosted Non-Dedicated, which meant I had to play the game.

P.C is 2.0GHZ.

CPU when no-one is in the game is 04 , I set it to realtime , should I set my WPN111 wirless adaptor priority to realtime too? it uses 0 CPU> but the server takes up 43,340 K , I have 1 GB of RAM. My Wirless bridges firmware is updated , My router DG834GT and the acess point WPN802 , both firm wares upgrade , would the lag be people from outside of the UK?

Well honestly, I don't know how DX deals exactly with the processor, but fact remains that a server runs significantly smoother on 3 GHz than on 1.25 GHz. Besides, I think {17}HeY plays on his own server too, with the same comp.

Anyways {17}HeY, are you sure your processor is that bad, or that you have that amount of ram? Because your amount of ram is really much compared to that processor.

NOn-Ded + me playing = awful for everyone else.

Ded + me playing = awful for everyone else.

Ded + me NOT playing = not too bad for everyone else.

Gah. I think my PC is trying to tell me something!!

CPU, RAM and U/L Bandwidth will affect it the most. NO good have a 20megs upload or something if ya running it on a 90Mhz pentium laptop is it.
