Converting VHS tape recordings to DVD

I need to know if this is possible. I'd think I'd need a DVD player that could record live, but they've got to be pretty expensive if they even exist, right?

You can use an analogue capture card to get it onto PC, then burn to DVD. Though that card thing costs a pretty penny...

That just lets you watch TV via an aerial. Not record VHS tapes. :(
