Deus Ex 1: Game Of The Year Edition Crash

PostPosted: Sun Dec 09, 07 6:39 pm

i decided to reinstall this game (i've got the GOTY edition patched to 112f) but it crashes back to desktop once started (actually, it only shows a black screen with eidos logo music playing in the background, then crashes back to desktop).

My configuration:

athlon AMD XP 3000+

1GB of ram

Ati radeon pro 1950 updated with latest catalyst drivers

Winxp SP2

here's what i tried:

Set compatibility mode to win98, nt or 95: doesn't work

Changed all the possible video drivers (software/direct3d/opengl): doesn't work

Tried to run the game in compatibility mode: Doesn't work
any suggestion is highly appreciated.

thanks.

Hey, welcome to the forums.

Firstly, does it display an error message when it crashes?

could you please attach your DeusEx.log file?

Can be found in the System folder. Go to your Deus Ex folder (Often C:\DeusEx) and then go to 'System', then find DeusEx.log (A text file named DeusEx, first line looks like this:
Log: Log file open, 12/09/07 18:29:48 )

if i use direct3d driver, it just shows a black screen and by pressing ESC the game crashes to desktop. instead, by using software driver it returns this error message:

Looks like an error dispatching the memory, could be your memory is corrupt... Does this error only happen for DX or also for other games?

Anyways, try clicking on "Annulla" and see what happens

What about the disk? Could there be corrupt autorun features when using the disk in the drive?

Oh right.

Hm I'm assuming it's computer related, have you made any recent hardware/software changes?

Installing new ram, graphics card, proccessor etc,

or

Installed a new programme? Might contain some form of spyware that if affecting the system.

Was that the rest of your DeusEx.log? Looks like the text is cut off at the end, I saw no errors.

Stuff like that can happen if DX doesn't shutdown properly.

I know it's kinda old topic... but it happened to me too

Well, here I couldn't fix it...
So I downloaded the Normal Version from Emule, not the GOTY... it plays perfectly here, but if you wanna multiplay... then you'll need patch

Hope I helped you
