Easy way to solve a version mismatch

A lot of people had trouble getting in to Hanz' Server or mine because of MPBots version mismatches, and I believe everyone has had a CaroneElevatorSet version mismatch.

An easy way to solve this problem is to drag the mismatched file(s) onto your desktop. This will keep your file and the version played on the server you're trying to join will be in downloaded into your Cache.

Duh :D But yes,

http://www.dxalpha.co.uk/kb/multiplayer ... tch-errors

You see a popular server, 8/10 slots full, 80 ping, playing on DXMP_Cathedral. You attempt to join and you get the old MisMatch error (I'll explain why later). Now the best way to fix this is:

1. Close down all instances of Deus Ex.
2. Locate your Maps folder, generally in MyComputer>C:>DeusEx>Maps.
3. Locate DXMP_Cathedral, most likely near the bottom.
4. Either Drag this onto your desktop or some other place, or delete it.
5. Now attempt to re-join the server. You should be able to join without error.

If you still get the MisMatch error, and you have definitely taken DXMP_Cathedral away from your Deus Ex folder, it may be required that you purge your cache. The cache, in brief, stores all of the Downloads you have taken from servers, so Gun Mods, Maps, Anti-Cheating Mods, etc. Either delete all of that or take about 3-5 out at a time, then try to re-join the server. I won't go into detail on this, as I will probably just confuse you.

Either way, now it's close to the top.

There's no method to force the whole community to change their CaroneElevatorSet's name. Same for DXMP_Cathedral kinda.

No.. It's down to the maker of the Mod/Map to change the map name as newer versions are released, i.e adding #1, #2, or v.1, v.2 etc.

Tell that to Lee, haha, he refuses to do such things.

He doesn't care, so it seems. He says: "It's my map and I can do whatever I want to do with it."

Of course it shouldn't happen, that people alter files without changing names. But it's already happened, just like DXMP_Cathedral. Can't change the past.

lol.

I once thought it would be funny to change loads of textures in the original DX .utx files... then I wondered why nobody joined my server in a week... yup, I hadn't changed the names.
