how do u get the stylish writing on dx plz tell

Go on run, and typr charmap. Or go through start, programs, accesories, system tools, character map.

i trying it like that but i carnt get the characters on2 the dx name changer

Well I use courier, because on that font the symbols will work, But in any case u must:

Open the drive deus is on, Deusex, system, user.ini and chanhge your name there

Seriously i doubt that would make any difference. It's only a splash screen when you start it that says soldout.

I used SoldOut.

Now I just stick to good ol' GOTY.

I used SoldOut to install GOTY, lol. The only problem I had was I couldn't save the bastard cause some file was missing and NO ONE else had it... Piece of shit, not even my friend who got it from the same guy as I got mine...

When I reformatted the computer (not for DX but cause it was a bitch) it worked... But reinstalling normally didn't...

Eventually you'll get to see the difference between unicode and ascii. Ascii is the common letters such as: Þà��åã

Unicode however is like: ЩāĈŜϋڊٶَ

i lost the disc i bought 6 years ago so i bought dx soldout. Guess what.. it didnt run.. and it was goty crap. im guessing i cant have two different versions of dx installed under one os but i dont really know.

you dont have to use system font 100% as regular fonts like Arial or TNR can be used once you click Advanced view from charmap window and from there select Windows Western Encoding.

Think about it. The SDK original (from Deus Ex) is 119f or something. The SoldOut one contains the latest version.

The SoldOut one doesn't include the latest SDK it only includes the 1112fm patch.

Earlier versions can be fun at times for sp.
Upgrading to 1112 is easy.
With goty it does show multiplayer tab but i was not able to play online before I downloaded 20 meg + mp patch that included 1112 anyway!

Please lets not mention soldout again, its useless shit. Goty on the other hand is updated version and I dislike it for quite a few reasons few of which I included here.

As a funny note I am not sure what the fuck i have on my comp right now. I belive I installed goty and replaced systemfiles partly or completely with original files .. or something like that. Basically it runs like old dx but sp acts like its goty. Like instant healing medbots etc. With old stuff you could do quite several pushups before that bloody thing healed you. This must be only thing i like in goty.

SoldOut's GOTY isn't exactly crap for me... The only real problem is that everytime I insert CD it auto-runs the Installation and that isn't a Splash Screen.

It has none for me. Except the normal DX one.

Yeah man that installation thing sucks, Especially when accidenly knoc the cd thing and it opens.

to fix that, go to deusex.ini, find the section titled [Engine.Engine] and change

Code: Select all

CdPath=D

to

Code: Select all

CdPath=

and voila you dont need a CD to run the game.
