Ok, I've been playing DX all day, come to restart it again and I get the first time video card config screen. Shows no video cards? wtf? Now I get this error (See Pic)
Its slimline btw.
edit:
I found (don't know where its come from? Slimline thing maybe? :S) troubleshoot.bat in the system folder. I ran this and it gave me my driect 3d support back. All working now, on a separate note, my current resolution is 1600 X 1200. Is it possible to make DX run in this resolution?

You want to set Deus Ex to 1600 x 1200 or you mean it has automatically set itself to this resolution while you need smaller?

I want to set it to that, same as my Windows resolution, is that possible?

Go to DeusEx.ini and set desired Deus Ex resolution in variables FullscreenViewportX (width) and FullscreenViewportY (height). (You can do this in game too in "settings" just i guess you have a trouble with doing this in game).

When I set it to that resolution in deusex.ini when opening DX it resets it back to 640 X 480? :S

I think there is only a certain amount that you can set it to...remember the game was made wen resouloutions such as your were very rare.

Can your card handle 1600x1200?
Keep in mind windows is 2D, and we're talking about 3D here.
(Same card can support different res' in different modes.)
Tried setting your refresh rate to 60?

It was a problem with Deus Ex, not a video card or a OS.

Yeah, same problem as Dae's had for a while it seems, the HUD appears to be zoomed but the resolution is fine, a big pain =[

Are you using the updated OpenGL driver?

that with the HUD is a general problem, which pisses me off to because i can't play in the native resolution of 1280x1024
as far as i know there is no fix

Using DirectX not OpenGL. I could try OpenGL tho, what this driver? And what resolution do you use DK?

I'll download updated one OpenGL rendered and tell you here if its worth seeing.

1024x768
Always have, always will.
(It's the res our old LCD monitor ran at.)

i used to use that resolution too.. but now with my TFT this one sucks
the only other solution is to run Dx in window mode and resize the window to fit to the whole screen

Sorry I only just read the windowed bit, does this fix the HUD?

No, it doesn't.
And the newest renderer didn't help.

What render do you use Nobody? And maybe you could post your default.ini and deusex.ini so Dae could check for differences?

well there i must say...
that the window is resized to 1280x1024
and as we know the HUD screws up from that resolution..
possibly it only just worked w/o screwing up...
this is in my ini.. related to the device settings
- Code: Select all

I think this is what your after for the video and stuff =)
[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
WindowedViewportX=1432
WindowedViewportY=866
WindowedColorBits=32
FullscreenViewportX=800
FullscreenViewportY=600
FullscreenColorBits=32
Brightness=0.400000
MipFactor=1.000000
UseDirectDraw=True
UseJoystick=False
CaptureMouse=True
StartupFullscreen=True
CurvedSurfaces=False
ScreenFlashes=True
NoLighting=False
SlowVideoBuffering=False
DeadZoneXYZ=True
DeadZoneRUV=False
InvertVertical=False
ScaleXYZ=1000.000000
ScaleRUV=2000.000000
SkinDetail=High
TextureDetail=High
Decals=True
MinDesiredFrameRate=50.000000
UseDirectInput=False
NoDynamicLights=False
Edit: It's modified in the Windowed mode so as I can run it on my 1440x900 display. Can't say as the screen size recognition (By this I mean which screen sizes you can pick in Options Menu) is a problem with the DX Engine, as on my other computer, I can get 2048x1536 res. Only problem is that my screen is nowhere NEAR good enough to render it all properly, so it collapses on it's face, and half the screen is missing. But, the option is still there =D

Eh, I found a weird thing, if you do it in windowed mode then slowly drag the window down, it will be fine. (see screenshot eh1) As soon as I drag it bigger it goes massive again. Weird eh? And the in-game settings still say its using 640 x 480 lol =/

It would be getting constant res_changed signals.
The .ini would still say 640x480 though.
