for some odd reason i can only get deus ex to run in a window at 800 X 600 at 16-bit. My hardware can handle a lot more than this but for some unknown reason it wont lemme go higher that 800 X 600 and wont toggle into a full screen!
Whats going wrong???
P.S. if possible reply with speed

Has Deus Ex ever ran at 800x600 or higher resolution, 16Bit FullScreen on your computer before?
If so, did you modify any setting recently?

Yes it did, it used to
* Run in 1024 X 768
* 32-Bit Colour
* Full Screen
As a temoary soloution i have managed to get it working on these specs using Open GL - but it isnt Exceltent......
Before i was using the DX 3D render on a Geoforce 4 MX 420.[/list]

Same problem here, I tried to edit it so I could do it in fullscreen with 1280/1024/32 , but it needs Glide2x.dll

Update : I now run it using the Open GL support and i have my original settings back. The only problemb is things that are far away.... I can see through (Great for seeing ppl in the A51 tower...)

is it better to run dx with direct3d or opengl?

Well, direct3d has a procon(both), and that is:See through walls from far away.
Pretty handy in DXMP.

i have seen this problem
i dont think its the graphics driver
reinstall (dont uninstall and install) reinstall DX, and then configure the graphics thingy to 3D FX, that worked for me

you just change the rendering device from hardware to software
- Code: Select all
[FirstRun]
FirstRun=1100
[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=SoftDrv.SoftwareRenderDevice
see the GameRenderDevice=SoftDrv.SoftwareRenderDevice just paste that over the one thats there before it
it says something about software

Ok i now have this problem, on this shite PC i have here at home, my other ones elsewhere and this has got a shit gfx card, a Voodoo 3, when i first put DX on this PC and ran it it said t needed the glide2x.dll so i have now got this and everytime it tries to run in fullscreen it says "Genport I/O Initialization Error" and will only run in a window, any ideas?
Edit: Nvm, Fixed
