Nobody's server

Postby Imperial » Wed Aug 30, 06 12:50 pm

The ammount of gpfs i have received here and the thing is I am the only one who is getting the gpfs, everyone else gets to enjoy their game, while I gpf throughout the game. I can't go without having at least 3 to 4 gpfs in one game. If someone could tell me where to find logs of crashes in servers I shall post it
Also I gpf at random times. I have had a picking up a weapon gpf, a gep gpf and then the more common ones, oh and the speed or jump gpf, when I run reallly fast, that gives me a gpf. I just gpf for pretty much anything. I don't think nobody's server likes me very much.

I do remember though, that it is something to do with numlock?

Clean your cache (it lies in /Cache/ folder). When I had > 400 files there, I was having 2-3 GPFs per game. When I deleted all the files smaller than 1 MB, amount of GPFs has significantly decreased, but however it isn't possible to avoid them at all.
I'm surprised about your descriptions of GPFs... Normally they appear when you use a medkit (it's a bug in MTL, which Alex has fixed), but I barely remember when was the last time my game crashed after shooting a GEP gun or any other gun too.
And also, demorecording doesn't work on SG's Cmd somehow. It records for 2 minutes, then your game crashes.

You mean just highlight all the files and hit delete them all?

How many files have you got there and what is the overall size of the folder?

Not that much, but still, try deleting all the files smaller than 1 MB (change to "Table" view, sort by size).

I host a Non Dedicated server as my computer/Connection is so bad that I can't join a dedicated game without lagging out my whole server.. And I also get a GPF every 1-2 hours or so.. Anyone know anyway to counter this? I know this is about Imperials problem but we may have similar.

Do you get it while playing? If so, it isn't bad.

The amount of times i have gpfed, id say i am nearing 100 this past month. Its getting to the point where its just gay.
5-6 gpfs in whole game=pissed off person. This is the least amount of gpfs i get in a full game.

GPF's are evil =\ It's my main reason I didn't like DX anymore, because I really cant play a game anymore. Even on a newly installed DX, it still gpf's like hell. Right now I can consider myself lucky if i join a server before i get a gpf. But I'll try to help, my comp just hates dx I guess...

How much MB of ram do you have?
Do the GPF's only happen when you've used a med/biocell and switch weapon?
Does your computer overheat now and then? (or just a high temperature overall (60+ degrees Celsius))

512 MB

No, for lots of different reasons
Overheat, nope, not to my knowledge.

512 MB ram should be more than enough.

Seeing as the gpf's do not only happen when using meds/biocells, it isn't the typical MTL-medkit-GPF, or whatever I should call it.

As for the temperature, if you don't have a way of checking it yet.. When you're getting a load of gpf's after eachother, use this program to determine your comp's temperature: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php I have quite a problem with overheating myself and Deus Ex tends to gpf quadruple as much at temperatures of 60+ degrees celsius. So it could be you're having the same problem.

This is really interesting...

I used to GPF on Epion GODZ Ship map, then only on Nobody Server.
I used to GPF like Imp, 4-6 times per game. It would GPF if someone used a super-rocket, or if someone was owning so bad, I strongly suspected them of somehow cheating...it never GPF's for any other reason.

Then somehow, it doesn't GPF anymore, only at the end of a game, or occassionally due to super-rocket. But I stopped GPF-ing like 4-6 times per game But...other servers now occassionally GPF also, but Nobody's will often GPF a the end of a game or rather at the end of a connection...
Kind of "fixed"...but I have no idea how...
My cache is set "purgecachedays = 0"

Also when I used to GPF, my connection would often be changing to 56k or LAN without me doing it, these days my connection stays on DSL, I never have to switch from 56k to DSL anymore and also no GPF's...

Also for some reason, my comp is very slow after being on the server, it takes up to 30 secs for resolution to resize and my desktop to be normal, the music will still play for up to 30 secs after DX has stopped running...
only on Stargate... but nothing is perfect and Stargate is dam near perfect.
