17" is good enough for a monitor I'd say... I'd probably hate a big screen like 32" and then it's still unsure if I'd actually have the room for it.
Anyways Garman, if you can't get a new computer, then you'll have to do without fraps and alike for now, as your computer is really too old for stuff like that... I haven't seen you on msn yet regarding the Direct3D issue, but it could well be dx doesn't work properly as your computer is just way too old.

32" screen would be stupid for deus ex an dother intense fighting games (e.g cs:s, BF2 etc..) because if your looking the right side of the screen and someone comes put to your left, you have to look all across the room (practically) and by the time you see your enemy your half dead, that would only happen if yoor up close, but can cant any distance away from it, cpu monitor etc.. has to be close
22" is better than most, i have a 17", but thtas good for a labtop.

22" isn't a good choice for gaming either. I play in a window much better than in a fullscreen mode.

One point though, a flat screen helps even more
