Two things though;
I r famous now. :]

We just recently bought the first of the Carry On's box set. They are UK movies made on shoe string budget in a few weeks. There are 28 of them in all, although 1, the most recent, can be forgotten quite easily. (Made decades after the originals and without Sid James. Death will do that.)
Of all of them, my favourite is Carry On Doctor. It's a right royal romp through classic UK humour, and well worth a look. My mum doesn't fancy Monty Python movies much(as in 'watch once in a blue moon'), but she does love the Carry On's, so perhaps it will make more sense for you.
Would you like me to torrent/host it for you Dez?

I'd rather have it you repost/save your reply, paste it on a text document so I can further butcher it.
Btw; just for a fun fact;
Both American English and English are incorrect.
German is more correct, because English is a germanic language. Based on the Huns who moved to England and made a language there.
So, Stez, Dez, and Laz are incorrect.
:]

Both are wrong, I've been to London actually, and I research a lot on Wikipedia, so therefore you're wrong. :]
You wrote:Seriously, have you been to every place in America? If that's true and that's what you saw, then you are right.

Seriously.
You're just being stupid now, your hilariousness...ness died out. It's not a fact, its an opinion. Why are you even mentioning the word "debate", it means to disagree opinions, and saying that "UK comedy > US comedy, American English is incorrect" is not a fact, but moreover you want it to be one.
Dez wrote:You are making this a UK vs US topic.
Wherever there is an anti-US post, there should be an anti-UK post.

Yes you did.
I posted the little text/highlighted the American english spelling correct just to be satirical/comical, but you took it too far by saying it's stupid/incorrect or bastardized.
Dez wrote:Lol. Monty Python doesn't make sense so it must suck... That's like saying "I don't understand how planes fly, so they don't".
Nope. Read the latter of the sentence, not the first thing in it that you disagree with.
You wrote:Red Dwarf aside, I am yet to see a single new British comedy that actually makes sense and has good jokes.

It's my taste of comedy, and you don't like it because I have a different taste than you?

You are taking this the wrong way.
I'm not anti-UK, I just hate it when people, usually Australians or English, tell me that they are better than us in every way. And if you want to reask the same question, look above for referrence.
Dez wrote:Lol @ rage.
Sadly, no. I'm not pissed, just tired.
Dez wrote:No, you would be wrong. This topic exists to answer the simple question; Which is correct, or if both are correct, which is more correct. The simple answer is, England.
I can agree with that, but American English is not 100% incorrect now is it. Imho,
^^^ notice IMHO, in my honest opinion*
American English is more correct than English ... english.
Dez wrote:The complex answer is that due to the fact America was founded by the United Kingdom and it's language is a direct re-write of the English language, England is more correct.
It was founded by it, and we seceded from it's empire. Therefore, when we secede, that does not fucking mean we have to do everything the way you do.
Dez wrote:You simply can not win this argument, and I think you realise that. Hence why this topic has a whole lot of political bullshit to try and fudge the fact.
"If at first you don't seem to make people realize, try, try, try again."
Saying something like "I'm tired with you guys, your fucking idiots" blah blah makes me feel foolish, therefore I would argue with the whole United Kingdom if it took me that much to get my opinion out. I'd argue every day for the rest of my life. You know why?
Because I'm dedicated.
Dez wrote:Uhh... right.
Besides you, who is using large stereotyping?
UHHH I DUNNO MAYBE NOBODY lol.
Seriously though:- British comedy is FAR better than American comedy. All american comedy is the sameI agree with American stereotyping though.. coz its true. I've been to America twice and all I saw was drunken hobos wandering in the road, really really HUGE people, MaccyD's on every bloody street, girl after girl goin "Like, OMG!!" and a zillion all-you-can-eat places.
Both quotes from Choco.
Dez wrote:No one but you brought the subject of US > <any other/> into this topic. You have assumed incorrectly that it is on everyone's mind. And generally, you are being paranoid, lol.
Nope.
I blame Lazer, he started the whole "we're superior to you".
You're assuming incorrectly what I'm doing. Perhaps your so busy with the fact that you want to look smart, you are forgetful of what people are actually saying in their posts.

Most actors and movies you defy as "cool" probably came from Hollywood, California. And California seems to be located in that place with the DUH-DUH-DUH DUMB AMERICANS LOZL.
Americans want to be English?
No thanks, we don't want to be silly, fairy nannies xD.

How did i know that was coming? its the same (and only) argument you use every single time american vs english gets brought up.Cooler?

yes you do, sooner you accept it the better.
You wrote:Everybody has a different taste in comedy, I prefer US comedy over UK comedy, Lazer here prefers UK comedy over US comedy simply because he is pro-UK and also because he thinks its funny because UK is where he came from, and he hasn't seen much US comedy as a US resident like me.
Dez wrote:And you're doing it again. You are implying that the people that have already posted are saying UK comedy > US comedy simply because they don't like the US.
Can't argue with that, I did that yes, but now I changed my opinion. I think generally US is not hated anymore; more like they are being treated as inferior.
Remember: imho
Dez wrote:Do you know what I base my choice off? It is quite simple, actually. "If I had to watch two weeks non-stop of a countries comedy, which would I choose?". The implication there is that we're talking about a wide variety, not just a few good re-runs of shows that were made decades ago.
When it comes down to it, I couldn't sit through a week of non-stop US comedy and would gladly give up M*A*S*H and Hogan's Hero's. And that is what makes me say UK comedy> US comedy. Pretty simple eh?
That analogy deals in absolutes.
"If I don't like US comedy, I won't watch it because UK comedy is better."
Dez wrote:Seriously, you need to chill, read, and think.

Dez wrote:Wether or not the Stereotype is true is irrelevant, you are conducting your self in a manner that matches that stereotype.
So I'm being a racist, fat, hobo redneck with a giant shotgun and totally ignorant?
No, I'm not matching the stereotype, you're just thinking that I am.
[stereotype] = me
[stereotype] = opinion
[opinion/stereotype] = me
factual stereotype =! me
Dez wrote:What that basically says is, a stereotype is an opinion based on experiences (I'm sure you remember that word, right?). If I were to follow that opinion, it would be an opinion that is not as important as actual facts: moreover a prediction of what I do & what I'm going to keep doing to. You think that I am matching your said opinion; therefore I am matching what you think of me. Is everybody's opinion the same? Nope. There could be mutual opinions, but they are not facts; and if they were, they would be considered an actual, thick, living data that I am indeed a perfect archetype of a stereotype that you have made.
Try to use science or philosophy, read the above paragraph slowly and come up with a factual, not opinion-based solution.
Dez wrote:Just, Lol.
I don't actually see any difference in either of those two statements.

Dez wrote:You have jumped the gun again and have read far too much into the comment. Sure, a hell of a lot of comedy coming out of the US is utter shit that should be axed before it's ever put on, and the UK has some of that too. (Although I do admit, none spring to mind....)
... again? You started this! Your being biased, you're not really focusing on US comedy, only sitcoms & stupid shows! Watch standup sometime! I can tell alone "US has a lot of shitshows, and the UK has as well (but none come to mind" that you are not paying any attention to US shows and are more likely based on UK shows.
Dez wrote:The lack of them giving due credit does not mean there is no due credit.
IIRC, Chococat use to be a big friends and Malcom in the middle fan. (Operative word; use, current status unknown.)
I'm very sure if you ask Lazer, he can give you a US comedy he likes/doesn't mind.
And I've already given you two.
You want it to be biased.
....
So you think I'm pro-US and prefer US shows only?
I like two or three UK comedy shows.
Red Dwarf.
Monty Python: Holy Grail.
Hollow Men.
Ever watch MadTV? It's something along the lines of Monty Python (series), except with more US jokes.
Dez wrote:In light of this, I have gone over my post and added sarcasm tags to aid you. You can feel free to reply to or ignore the area's surrounded by the [sarcasm] tags. I can't say I'm in the mood to laugh at that, I don't consider it funny.
emo cunt =P
Dez wrote:UK comedy is not skin deep, it never has been.
The entire movie is a joke. I could go further into it, but explaining a joke to someone ruins it for ever... Suffice to say there are different levels at which it's funny. Try to think you're watching a Mel Brooks film, only more subtle and articulated.
Lol mosh.
I watched parts of it on YouTube, and I'll even admit some parts are funny. But the series does not make sense to me, tbh.

The comedy is all opinions.
But still, my opinion is the right one. <-- That is taking the piss.
And yet, to Choco - who has been to America - you answered;
Just also on Choco's post, you said the stereotype isn't true, which again she didn't say it was true. The fact of the matter is the world has a stereotypical view on everything. And we call it stereotypical because we know it isn't the absolute truth. If we wanted to say it is 100% correct, it wouldn't be a stereotype, would it?
I agree with American stereotyping though.. coz its true.
And if I cast my mind back, you tried to correct and English man typing an English word. Seeing as how English existed before America, does that situation not strike you as queer?
tongue-in-cheek
It does strike me as queer, it also strikes me as wrong. And it is.
(Not opinion.)
Also, a debate is used to foster both opinions and facts. An example would be a debate over the impacts of fishing in a protected area. I can provide proof and opinion to formulate a fact - that fishing is bad.
(And in that case, I would be right. You could have your opinions, but you would be wrong. This would be due to the proof tabled during the debate.)
I thought it was just opinions?
And yet if Dale posted that...? The point being you took my attacks in an aggressive manner because they came from me.
My first series of posts where actually quite light hearted, and reading back over them know, I don't actually see why it continued... Think
The whole American 'English' debate reminds me of someone downloading code, changing a few well documented varables, changing the author tag, and saying "I R LEET CODER I HAX U!". No, you used someone else's work.
f you don't understand the jokes - how can you be in any position to declare them good or bad?
Not at all. Rather, I was pointing at the fundamental difference in comedy approaches. The 'Jackarse' approach and the innuendo approach.
The latter being more intellectual stimulating then the prior.
I think there are a lot of insecurities when it comes to US people. They tend to go off the handle a lot easier when you insult their country. Think
Best advice I could give you there is to read this. You'll be asleep before you know it.
You can have your opinion, but you would be wrong, especially in the case of trying to correct Snakey's spelling.
But respect where respect is due. You are using the English Language (albeit bastardised[ignore this]), You have that land because the UK took it, You are using the UK measurement system (albeit very old and out-dated now), You had a good military due to the UK(a lot of civil war fighters were ex-UK army), You were allowed to continue as a sovereign nation. and you have a ally in Europe.
I'm just stubborn.
Example: I had a rip roaring argument with my boss at the time who tried to tell me that Windows > Linux & that Dual core processors only worked in Linux, and that Windows couldn't use them. It ended with my saying "I'm a opinionated bastard, but I'm bloody right!". Wink
Seriously though, have we established the fact that an American is in no place to correct an English mans correct spelling?
Considering Hollywood pushes 90% of it's products world wide now, the first statement could be said with quite some truth. Again, it is her opinion is it not?
[Second one referred to further up.]
(Lazer had only responded with tongue in cheek thus far, and only once.)
First paragraph = taking the piss.
Second paragraph = Bring your attention to the post you skipped.
(Why do all yanks think everyone thinks yanks are from California?)
About the only attacking bit I see the is the first bit, which is actually true.
That is _THE_ first aggressive comment on UK vs US.
Where am I trying to look smart? >.>
Which still leaves us in exactly the same place...
The whole situation is hypothetical, and is meant to force an opinion. And by that, I mean you don't get 'depends'. I do watch American comedy, but like I have already said, they are decades old.
I've been pretty chilled with all my posts. =]
Some how, an American commenting about the stereotype the world holds about Americans just doesn't quite work.
long paragraph stez wrote on stereotyping
The only shit show from the UK that leaps into my mind with clarity is 'The Bill', but that isn't comedy... Feel free to suggest names.
Stez wrote:That'd be your opinion, and it'd be wrong.
The only thing they have in common is the fact they are 'skit shows'.
And as you might have guessed, I've seen MadTV, and it doesn't impress me. It tends to telegraph it's jokes far too much, there is no subtle nature, and the actors could be better/less annoying.

English accent sucks because it can't pronounce shit for it's life. "A-loo-mee-nee-um" isn't the correct spelling, it sounds like a bunch of retards trying to spell aluminium. British english doesn't sound tough or anything, it's too wussy, and it has no guts, and it's for fairies.
