How to Create .umx using modplug

Postby Aidan » Mon Nov 06, 06 8:18 am

Ok, I broght up this topic in another forum once before, but I didn't really get it. So could Someone who has made umx music many times please give we the exact steps into making umx in modplug. When I try to convert my music into ".it" then to ".umx" then play it in my map...
well, my whole pc freezes and I need to restart my computer :(

Well, first export your music from modplug to .it.

Open up UnrealEd.

Go to MUSIC.

Press Import, and find your file.

Click save as, then save it.

Should work :S

No, it works for both .uax and .umx, I've tried it before, and you have to import as .it.

Ok, I'm back. Clyzm's idea is for short shongs because it cut off my song. and DXMS wasnt that much oof a help either. On Mod tracker it cut off my song. I know it has to do with the pattern, but have no clue what to do with it :?

the song can be no longer than a certain legnth - WAV files only save files up to a certain size, then cut it off.

If you need a music file, why not just use one that us guys have made in the various DXMS packs, or take by example and try a smaller song?

Or make your own in ModPlug.

And btw, it doesn't export as .WAV. It exports as .it, and IIRC, UnrealEd IMPORTS .IT, not .WAV.

:? Really? Because I once added another row, then copied and pasted the code in row #1 (I forget where I put it, I'd have to open that music file and see). When I played the music aftarward in mod tracker, It played through the whole song with no troubles. I impoted the song on dx, then saved as .umx

When I Added It to my map then played the map (as long as that song was on my map), The map and my computer would freeze causing me to re-boot it :(

There might be someway to make it play the full length of the song with no cut-offs.
