Alpha's speeds

Postby Tonnochi » Wed Mar 26, 08 3:49 pm

It seems the site has slowed down, much like Global Node.

Sometimes topics don't load, I just close the page and reload the forums etc and it works again, still quite annoying...

It's all fuckin' slow.

Least they don't have flash ads here. Now THAT pisses me off. And my CPU!

It's slow!! So's the fuckin' archive.
I ain't fkn waiting over 50 mins to download moop's archive. Fuck that.

Fiddling with Firefox's aboutconfig atm, but I dunno.... sick of fkn waiting. I'm connected at approx 5.5Meg (on an "upto 8 meg" connection, but I measured it).

GAH I HATE WAITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yes, I am being childish, before anyone says anything.

Get FlashGet, then FlashGot for Firefox. On my 100 mbit connection the maximum speed with default Firefox downloader is around 350 KBps, and with FlashGet it goes up to 8 megabytes per second.

Oh and yeah, dxalpha.com is located in a high-speed datacenter in Germany, we overpay for this speed, and for me the site loads extremely fast.

The archive, though, is on a shared US server, but I remember that it doesn't give bad speeds either.

100mBit connection

Lucky lucky lucky!!

Also:  @ Flasgot/get!! 238 kbps (or is it kb/s i never know) when usually I only get around 80-100 from the alpha archive!

Of course it loads fast for anyone in bloody Europe. YOU'RE LIKE RIGHT FUCKING BESIDE THE SERVER PRETTY MUCH, lol. For anyone else it can be shit but tbh, it loads fine for me. And I live in NZ... not sure how far away from Germany that is though...

Ooh... a fair while. Probably not walking distance!

I'm in the UK. For a relatively rich country our phone/internet infrastructure seriously lags behind "the continent" (mainland Europe).

Dxalpha is faster for me than most common websites. It is faster than ask.com, faster than liverpoolfc.tv and more.
