The problems with kids today...

Postby DarkKnight » Wed May 03, 06 7:47 pm

Today was a strange day, I awoke to be told "We have decided, that because of recent studies, you are a miricale of a man.".

First reaction; Eh? :-s

As it was explained, a recent study has shown that girls are smarter then boys, no surprise there, but it goes on. Apparently, they acredit it to the presence of girls in the same class, the boys feel compelled, even at a young age, to show off. Add to this the apparent complete lack of an attention span, and you have poor, badly treated little boys who are suffering in a cruel world. A high school is even trialing same sex classes to "Help the boys develope". The students them self have said "Yeah, like it's great, coz like, you don't have to show off and stuff, you can be normal".

So, it was decided that I am a miricle of a man because every school class I ever attended was mixed, that and my attention span is not that of a newt. So clearly, a miricle I am.

Now, this raises some interesting questions, chief among them is; wtf is wrong with kids these days? When did we start breeding such wimps? If boys these days are so compeled to show off infront of girls during class, and it's bad enough to effect their learning, whats changed? If I'd have to venture a guess, I'd say respect.

Gone is the day when being sent to the headmasters office was a threat you took seriously. Back in the good ol day, the head master demanded respect, even in the form of fear if need be. Like the Ex-army head master that told the student "So you like beating on little kids? Why not beat on me.". Needless to say, the student crawled out of the office. The student had previously hit someone 4 years younger then him, and sent him to hospital. (He missed school for a few days though, because when get got home, a belt was waiting, and he couldn't sit down afterwards.)

This also, in my opinion anyways, seems much like the current police. Most young people simply don't respect the law, and why should they? Whats gunna happen? They get thrown in juvie, an over grown bording house for waffle eating pussies. Gone are the times the local cop took trouble makers 15Km out of town[via the dirt road], took your shoes, and told you to walk home. Which was exactly where he was headed, to tell your parents why you'd be late.

Now I know I could be seen as over reacting, but seriously, when a guy out for a good time get's bashed senseless/killed by a group of kids from 13 - 20 for no reason, there is a problem. However it wasn't a problem just 20 years ago. So what went wrong?

I suppose, the question I ask of peeps here is; What is wrong with kids today, and why? If you ask me, lack of respect for rules is first on the list.

Have some dignity for your gender, dammit :x

When I was little, I was probably the smartest out of all my classes, not being braggadocious.

Many kids have low self-esteem and find the need to show off to be accepted.

Also, they don't seem to have any respect for authority at all because they think they're invincible. Kids will push and push until they've pissed someone off/broke a rule/law and then they're shocked when there are reprocussions.

[Yes, I know I used the word "they" when referring to kids, though I would be considered a kid myself (I'm 14). I however, do not find the need to show off at all, nor do I have any disrespect toward those in positions of authority. I don't give a flying fuck about what people think of me. If someone asks me something like "Hey, are you gay?", I reply "Yeah, sure, sounds good.", as opposed to someone who has very low self-esteem/is very insecure about their sexuality would say "NO! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? YOURE PROBABLY A FAG YOURSELF." (Yes, I'm not particularly good with examples)]

On a side note, I'm one of the two smartest students in my school. He and I are pretty evenly matched.

You're speaking out for all kids there. They may be a major pain in the ass, but not all of them.

Until i started secondary schooling, i was the unquestioned "Smart-Ass" of the classes... But i never felt the need to break laws to make myself known. Infact, having social phobias, i hate to be the center of attention, and would gladly smash up a classroom to get out of an assignment(Thus effectivly gaining what i dont want, attention. I only did that once, it was funny XD)

I don't see what reasons some kids these days have for acing like total chavs, but i got an infant school near my house, which you can't go near without some little 5 year-old trying to shine light of tacky "Argos-Bling" in an attempt to blind you. It's fucked up.

My guess is that nowadays there is more tv (violence, sex, other crazy influences) and less normal outdoor play.

Kids are less imaginative and individual, most kids follow the same interest simply because it all gets brain-washed into their minds. (ie Furbys, didn't you just love hundreds of them :S)

If a very young child sees a lot of violence from an early age they're gonna think its normal to act like that, whereas older children know right from wrong.

Another reason kids are disrespectful is because all they eat is additives and sugar. It makes them hyper and uncontrollable.

Nuff said :P

Personally I am relitively intelligent, I go to a selective grammar school, which would explain my anality about spelling etc... I also have a very 'different' perspective on things and definatly do not go with the crowd. Also I have very high moral standards and would _not_ break the law let alone to get attention. Moreover I very much respect my elders, except those who clearly do not deserve it and also respect the laws and those who enforce them...

When I was going to the international school in Tabubil, PNG, I was in the top 10% of the country[Australia]. I was suppose to go up two years of schooling when I got back to Australia, however they wouldn't let me into year 5, and I was doomed to repeat my year 2 work in year 4.

About the same sex classes, they trialed that for the first time here in English lessons when I was in year 10, 4 years back. They found it successful, and they now do it in all the English lessons in the key stage 4 work, years 10 and 11.

I'm not saying that. I know I was fine. I don't know what their ideas was, the guy came from another school who was trialing it, then joined a schools group and they "discussed" it.

I didn't mind, it was only for the last 2 years of school, and this school is ALOT different to what you would imagine a normal school to be...

One of my teachers use to leave the class for about 2 months every year, to go up the mountian and collect samples.

We use to play soccer with about 24 to a side, all on field.
(Only way to play it.)

White kids were out numbered 3 to 1 by natives.

The teachers were human. They'd take the piss out of them self every year at the end of year show the school would put on.
(I was the wolf in red riding hood, kekeke.)

We use to have rioters walk past the school.

We use to have a pet Tucan, Cassowary and Python.
(The snake got loose once, found it in my class room O.O)

That's just some of the highlights of the best school I went to, so I can imagine a lot in a school. :)
(I've been to ~15 different schools.)

I used to be a show-off in my class, simply because I felt I needed to place myself safely within the pupil environment.

I used to get bullied, spat on, beaten up, humiliated, all the shit stuff. What made me is the fact I rose above it, I used the classroom as a medium to get myself back up to scratch.

Later on I became "the funny guy", and that was the end of the problem.

I now feel good about my self, I see my school history as a trial time in which I needed to break free from what I could have been into what I was.

But, it cost me my education, I flunked my A-Levels, fucked up my engineering course, and im stuck in a dead end job on 11300 a year.

But in the end, what I have, is a belief in myself that I am a good person, and that is that matters, I dont really care for material goods, which is all you need intellegence for.

Wisdom is all I seek, is it a wise thing to think that I would prefer to be eternally wise, and yet have no real intellegence, than vice-versa?

My girlfriend loves me, I love me, but I hate my job. But its just a job, who cares?, im happy enough.

Luckily Im good at hockey and atheletics so Im alright, but as its a rediculously selective school I guess I must be pretty smart as well :S

As do you. You generalize all male children as "hyperactive". If it weren't for those "hyperactive, shy kids", then we wouldn't have some of the greatest minds of the earth, Einstein, Tesla, Nobel etc. Don't wanna be sexist or anything, but I don't see a lot of particular women accomplishing more than the male persuasion.

No, I do not generalise. I was relaying what the survey had found. And it should be no surprise girls are smarter then boys in school.

As for women... Do you persue history perchance?
(Brushing aside the fact that in almost all fields there is a woman among the 'great minds' of the world. That and child birth. XD)

Generally speaking, the rule of women through out history, even recent history, has shown increased prosperitity for the related nation.

Joan of Arc, while an over used example, accomplished what no man at the time could.

Cleopatra, although she took her life in the end, was able to bare children to unite Rome and Egypt. Something a guy couldn't do. ;)

Queen Lizzy. (Englands 'golden' era.)

Margerate Thatcher. (Ruled the UK with an iron fist. Love or hate it, she was what the UK needed.)

Evita Peron, a great example of what happens when women get active in politics.

Boudica, a great leader, who although defeated, was able to lead her army against the might of the Roman army on success. A rare thing.

The list does go on quite a bit, but that's just for leaders.

I do not lack respect or pride in my gender, however I do keep it in check.

Care to explain? You seem to be assuming a lot my friend.

Is this more stuff that "women will make peace and men cause violence?" A recent study shows, that women are far more jealous than men, and are actually far more easily angered, despite the fact that most hotheads here are males. Don't think the world will have peace if a woman takes things into control automatically. As JFK once said,

"The absence of war is not peace."

Personaly i think both women are fucking annyoying and they piss me off cause they keep making annoying and stupid fuckin studies to try and make it seem like men are all morons, some are stupid oh but look, who was the smartest people in the world? Albert Einstein - MAN,Leonardo Divinchi MAN Gallalaio - MAN i never heard of women being all great and smart in history, there's a bit of bravery but no inteligence, thats why 90% of the worlds leaders are male :D cause if we were ruled by women the laws would become soft, call me sexist i dont care,my rule "Just cause their there doesent mean i have to like em" same goes for racism.

ZE END!

OH OH! and all egyptian and roman architectual work was done by men too
,Ha women are smart my arse \:D/ :smt079
