Emotional is displaying a stronge sense of emotion. Although anger is one of these emotions, sadness, angst and anguish is a FAR GREATER emotion and a pathetic one at that.

There's no song out there that doesn't display emotion. However, emos in this sense define the emotions of crying, sadness, anguish, angst.

Men at Work - Land Down Under

Appropriate song Stevie, don't you think? ;)

Love that song! :D

I come from a land down 'under, where women glow and men plunder!
Can'tcha hear cnat'cha hear da thunda? Better run, you better take coover!

Sung by a guy born in Scottland, raised in Australia, and married an African. Bloody Aussie bloke.

Anyway, my point is, you listen to music for the emotion, regardless of which it might be. To say sadness is a pathetic emotion next to the want to kill people who feel it is quite stupid, wouldn't you agree? ;)

Sadness is just another piece of the puzzle, and there isn't a band out there that doesn't have a song that reflects or conveys sadness. Iron Maiden - Rainmaker is playing atm, and it's lyrics are quite sad.

Personally, I think most people that listen to your kind of metal do so because they don't want to listen to popular music, regardless of how good it may be. There aren't a lot of people who are really into it, next to those into pop/rap/polka, so it allows them to seperate them self from the rest of the people. Just my opinion though.

Nightwish - End of all Hope.

God I love this song.

Yeh I don't get why alot of people all come to that same conclusion "you only listen to it so you're different", I've never heard such shit in my life. People have different tastes, I may aswell say "you listen to rap/dance/pop to fit in". There are people who pretend to like the music, but that is the lighter form of metal, like Slipknot, same goes for other forms of music.

If my musical taste was limited to rap/dance/pop, you could justly come to that conclusion. Look at how trends spread like wildfire through out schools. Metal has risen like rap, hardcore following, and then the rest. Will we see a whole bunch of skinny whiteboys proclaiming their alegence to metal as they once did rap? Oh wait...

well er... in my school i was the only rock listener of the people with an age of 16 or above  , but there were around 10 people in classes below me who listened to rock , the rest was all hiphop fan or hardcore , so no metal has risen in my school

If you're suggesting I'm following a trend you're very wrong lol When I started to get into metal I was at the age when I wasn't interested in music [I was listening to game soundtracks, PS1 disc in a stereo = playing music lol Rob Zombie, Pitchshifter, JunkieXL etc] and when I heard metal I liked it, then gradually got onto heavier stuff etc And at the moment there isn't even a "trend" for death metal, most other metal fans don't consider it music, some people even say "turn this barking dogs off!" ¬¬ lmao

Death metal is becoming the new punk. The music you listen to when you hate all other music. Mainly because punk is no longer punk, it's pop, because there are no punk bands anymore, they either went pop or metal.

Lol at Rod Zombie though. :]

Btw, look at rap when it first came onto the scene, no one would touch it, it only had a die hard following. Rap then splintered and started going pop(Run DMC and Aerosmith, anyone?), which is what we have these days. Like it or not, there are people who don't like a band becoming popular, and will actively seek out less popular bands and or genres.

Rob not Rod lol I really cannot ever see it going mainstream, but if it does, more bands will play which would be great, and death metal isn't what you listen to when you hate every other type of music. Alot of them like other types of music[that would be hardcore], I'm guessing you're basing your facts on me not really liking any other type of music and finding everything else gay lol And I know nothing about early rap or any rap for that matter, equally shit.
Also I didn't start liking death metal because no one listened to it, in the music I used to listen to in certain parts they would do weak death metal style vocals and I found it cool as fuck, then I realised it would be ace if a band did that all the way through, then started to go off the bands I used to like.

Hmm... first of all death metal is rising, yes, but it is not becoming the new punk. Death metal fans do NOT despise all other musics, in fact death metal, thrash metal and gore grind have been close friends. Death metal is not murderer's music, or music for the insane. They are ideas, and anyone stupid to say that "OMG DEATH METAL FANS DO WHAT THE BANDS SAY ON LYRICS" deserve a hammer bashed in their face. We won't anally rape someone with a jackhammer, we won't abort a woman with a baseball bat, we won't make a woman lose her virginity with a machete, we just like listening to it, it's different from other music, granted, but I like it not to stand out. You see, if I liked rap, I'd listen to rap, but I don't. I love death metal, thrash metal, speed metal, even progressive rock ffs. I don't stick to one genre cus nobody is listening to it. I just like to listen to it, regardless of popularity. Hell, death metal could grow more mainstream and popular than Rap and hip hop, and I'd still listen to it.
