A brief description

Today’s Internet hosts are threatened by IP spoofing attacks and large scale Distributed Denial-of-Service
(DDoS) attacks. We propose a new defense mechanism, StackPi, which unlike previous approaches,
allows the host being attacked, or its upstream ISP, to filter out attack packets and to detect spoofed source
IP addresses, on a per-packet basis.
In StackPi, a packet is marked deterministically by routers along its path towards the destination. Packets
traveling along the same path will have the same marking so that an attack victim need only identify the
StackPi marks of attack packets to filter out all further attack packets with the same marking. In addition,
the victim can associate StackPi marks with source IP addresses to detect source IP address spoofing by
changes in the corresponding StackPi mark.
StackPi filtering can thus defend against not only DDoS attacks, but also many IP spoofing attacks - such
as TCP hijacking, and multicast source spoofing attacks. Because each complete mark fits within a single
packet, the StackPi defense responds quickly to attacks and can be effective after the first attack packet
in a IP spoofing attack.

Easy... make a mutator that removes all the augs. Ive already done it, but it removes the Light Aug too. then set you server to have like 1 aug at start and 0 per kill. fools the bots. Ive had a server up with this mutator, and works fine.

Imperial, saying if your clever u can avoid Spydrone is a useless thing to say. People use abuse the spydrone. Its never used as intended. Its used to take all bio. Thats not its intended purpose.

How can u be clever when it takes about 0.2 seconds to drain some guys bio then kill them with a gep.

Yes Spydrone is an aug but its an aug thats always abused. If it was used correctly to scope out people in far away places, i wouldnt mind.

The spy drone lets you scout an area where you suspect an enemy to be at reduced risk to yourself. Once this is activated it moves very quickly across even the large maps, and is difficult for enemies to spot. The emp attack has been enhanced for multiplayer, and detonating this anywhere near a person will cause massive bioenergy loss. The drone is also useful to send ahead and disable a turret so you can then run past. The spy drone is nearly invulnerable while it is in flight. The drone is great to send alone up to the top of that likely sniper nest and flush someone out. A favorite close range tactic is to activate the spy drone and the emp shield at the same time, and detonate the drone immediately. This is very surprising to an enemy at close range and gives you an immediate energy advantage.

I'll give you credit as you were right on one part, that ONE way it can be used is by scouting an area. Now maybe I'm wrong but it looks like this article was done by the people that made the game right? "By - Deux Ex Team -- Ion Storm, Austin" I think they know what they're talking about.

Malou as stated by Dejavu earlier, your mod unfortunately will not work. He seems quite passionate about keep your servers off-line. This isn't good at all. The augging scene is however flourishing, i've even checked the servers log and the non auggers are finding it very interesting. Good for us i guess.

The best thing for you guys to do is just basically talk to dejavu on msn and just ahve a man to man and see his exact reason for doing it and what can be done to stop it.

I know for a fact theres 1 thing he wants from someone in dx which will make him stop but its not my place to tell you.

He has got a point there. And if someone wants to ban a person from thier server, or if they are admin of that, whatever the reason, they have a right to do. Criticise but you can't change a thing, thats thier view, just like any sport on television.

The floating bug is amusing especially on towers were ya can perfrom kamikaze dives from the tops of skyscrapers, although ya only need a emp to land safely anyway.

The thing with dx atdm is a few short things in order to be good and enable success.

First and foremost is that the way forward within ATDM is biocells and medkits. Many people die because of no bio therefore when ever u have killed someone picked there body for the 25% bio increase you should go get another cell and another med, as many as possible before you fight again. So in short always keep stocked up with meds and cells.

If someone has 5 meds thats 450 damage you can take without dying, thats without regen too.

Without bio you are dead, theres no point in even fighting unless you are very good with augs and are able to flick them on and off very fast when being attacked on very low bio.

When a spydrone appears from a cloaker stood next to you and zaps all your bio and u have no cells, this ruins the entire point of playing.

Yes i could have EMP shield BUT id like to see any1 turn the shield on before the spydrone zaps the bio from a cloaker. youd have to have fingers that move at lightspeed. even then it wouldnt register on the server.

ADS is no problem i can hr a gep coming a mile away.

Spydrone is just to me, gay.



Theres a lot of cloakers too these days but theyre taking the easy option and hiding away. To me on a personal level cloakers fear and i do mean FEAR combat encounters.

It's people like you who give Deja Vu reason to do this. If you want to see this situation as a game, then yeah you are stupid. Deja Vu has taken down servers people pay for. That's what bothers me more than anything. It bothers me that he killed a game I liked, yeah, but I don't even play it anymore.

Once he took down the servers of paying customers (illegally) that's when it became more than a game. If you guys want to piss him off farther, then by all means go ahead.
