There was a beta MP patch for DX at the end of 2000. Then they released DX GOTY with the MP included in 2001. That's when I got it.

OK... DX was originally released at 26th June 2000.
I doubt that an MP patch was already around before 2001.
Btw, GOTY was released AFTER all patches came out. (wasn't it? O_o)

DXMP started actually not by ISA. It was a mod started by someone known as Neo in 2000. He had a mod team. I believe a beta might have been made. ISA basically took their idea and made their own I believe. I would be pissed if I put a lot of effort in making an mp game and then ISA seizes the opportunity to make their own and get it out faster. Which is why mp seems like it was rushed.

i think i have had 3 dx copies, one boxed and all nice from WH Smiths when it first came out, remember when games were in those big boxes, with the cd cases and manuals inside , then this sold out version, and like 3 copied versions

I played the demo for aaaages, then got the original SP version, I then read somewhere that is was possible to play online but I didn't know how until about 2002/03
