Discovered something! [WARNING: SPOILERS]

Postby DUMBY » Fri Nov 24, 06 8:24 pm

I think i discovered something noone knew about....
At the beginning of the Deus Ex 1 game, when you first go to the UNATCO Headquarters, there is a secret place (underground). Opposite the locker (a small room with password required or multitool - and the password is 2001) there is a table and then a wall... between the table and the wall , on the floor (carpet) there are two small square "doors" they lead about a metre underground where there is sniper ammo, a packet of cigarettes and a nano key !!!
Am i the first one who discovered that?

They even mention the secret room in the infolink... The secretary that has 3 scramble nades mentions it, when she is confessing...

I played SP for five years, still I discover things/meanings etc...

1. The aug pick-up on the wall in Stanton Dowd's cemetery is easily missed.

2. The secret brick in the Airfield level opens a secret room. Not easy to spot.

3. When Jock lands in Hong Kong, it's not all over, go back to Versalife - there is an army of MJ12 commando reinforcements waiting for you. If you released the bum, he's dead for sure now...

4. If you play basketball in New York, there will be a secret message

These are the ones I remember off the top of my head...

It is mentioned when Shannon confesses to stealing from Unatco.

There is also the boat on the first level, which I didn't know about until I read Groo, and the Airfield Heli Base little compartment accessible via pinball machine.

The boat? You mean the submerged barge next to Harley Filben's rendezvous point, that has a sawn-off and wep mods?

Pinball, I knew a compartment, but I opened it from the room with a secret room and computer... wow...*puts in DX CD and clicks on shortcut*

Also can anyone explain why the NewWestCoast-Silo SINGLE PLAYER level can not be opened properly in the SDK? DXMP_Silo opens np, but the SP level is impossible to use...

Also when you swim in Hong Kong and find the rebreathers and some red and yellow pipes underwater, at the entrance to the canal road area with karkians, aug pick-up and dead scientist, exactly how did you all get past the red and yellow pipes? I was unable to do it without removing the pipes in the SDK...

Go into the restaurant in the canal, forgot the name

In the back is a cold storage room, jump on the vents and get up to a vent opening, go inside and go through the system

I usually tossed tnt crate in the water where the barge is and shot it, or rolled one of the barrels there.
Getting to the karkians in HK is very easy once you know your way, i mostly manage to bypass karkians in the water and then shoot them from safe point.
One thing I didnt know at start was the medbots in the first map, hidden inside those metal boxes. Second spot had biobots i think, I never really needed those but was interesting discovery, I just used the first TNT crate to open the first medbot hatch and used second tnt on the tiny robot.
Pinball one was easy to find as I often feel like frobbing every frobbable object in the game >.<
The secret stuff behind the window in smugglers I found only by randomly hitting the window with ck.. but i find it funny that smuggler later replaces the breakable glass with unbreakable :p, guess the guy learns from mistakes.

Can someone edit the thread name so it warns about spoilers?

I think one of the keypads in the game have to be hacked. I tried every possible code on it (0000 to 9999), none worked... =S

Can't for the devil of me think what level that was in though...

how the hell did you do that?

as for keypads, i rarely tried manually "hacking" them, i think I managed to open that one in castle clinton, it had "666" or something as code, if im not mistaken. For first two years I remembered the keypad code for the storage room on lib island, last I played I couldnt remember it.

Comm storage = 0451

Alex's storage room = 2001

It may have been in Hong Kong where if you remembered 1997 as Gordon Quicks triad compound code, it wont work for obvious storyline reasons

Blood, sweat, tears, ignorance, lack of Multitools... lack of knowledge of how to cheat... It keeps going on... xD

The code for the comm van in Liberty Island is 0451. the training level code is 0012, and those are the only ones I know off the top of my head.

First you visit smuggler its breakable. I didnt even waste ammo on that, just kept chopping away with combat knife. Second time mishes take you there, when you have to get ammo for sinking the ship i think, its unbreakable.
