If I mentioned your name, please don't flame at me. This isn't a provocative story.
The Story of Cataclyzm
------------------------------------
Introduction:
Ok, here is my DXMP story, from start to finish (or from basically as much as I can remember.) It may not be very interesting,
as I was in a lot of 0 aug clans and such, but you may find out something about me that you don't already know. I'll try to
divide each segment by either the clan I've been in or my new-found aliases, then the year it happened (TBE means to be
estimated, meaning I forgot what year, so I'll put something like TBE 2002~2003 or something.)
-----------------------------------
First days of getting the game:
2002
When I first bought my computer, I was 16. It's the same computer I use now, no upgrades and such. The computer came with
4 games: Thief II, Deus Ex GOTY, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force and Elite Force Expansion pack. Naturally, buying the computer, I
tested out the games one by one. I loved all of them, but when I got to testing out the final game of Deus Ex, at first I was
confused about what time it is, what theme and such. I played the first Liberty Island level and declared it addicting. I played
the game over and over again, completing it numerous times (I would get stuck on places such as Area 51 Page). I looked up
some cheat codes and tried playing the game with them, it was 10x easier to do so but it removed the fun I initially had.
Singleplayer was addictive, and it was very fun, but I grew bored. I saw "Multiplayer" as one of the options on the startup menu,
I had no choice to click it, it sounded interesting.
First days of multiplayer:
mid 2002
I had 56k initially, I had to use my telephone connection and MSN Explorer. It wouldn't work if I was not dialed up, but I didn't know this.
I spent my time in multiplayer hosting non-dedicated servers (I didn't know what the term meant anyways) and playing in them, alone, staring
in awe at Silo and Smuggler and such. Afterwards, I figured out how to make my connection work, so that I could see the serverlist. Naturally,
I had no idea which servers were good and bad, or even what the word "ping" meant. I joined these servers randomly, using the alias Player
(I did not know how to change my name). I played in various ATDM servers, usually dying. My first kill was in augs, yes, but it was on a teammate
with a GEP gun. I guess that doesn't count as a kill, but my second kill would be with a Flamethrower to the body. I was hooked on the fun of
this gametype, although I had not payed any attention to talking and such, to the messages that appear.
I played on and off for about a year, 'till 2003 where I realized my first alias.
Sesshomaru92 Alias:
early 2003~mid 2003
Don't ask, at the time I used to like Inuyasha quite a bit. Anyways, DXMTL was out at this time, and the majority of servers I spent
time in were 0 augs. This wasn't as fast, I thought, but I could get more kills. I started using the assault rifle and sniper rifle a lot more than the
other weapons. I played again and again, usually for 5 hours a night every night. Mind you, this was still on 56k. I started seeing an increase in
the level of my aim and movement. However, one dull afternoon, my dad came home, outraged. He was mad that my playing blocked all the
telephone calls to the house. He got the CD out of the computer, and then he snapped it in two and threw it out in the trash. I was extremely pissed
at why he did so, but this aspired me to my first actual DX career days.
FireGod Alias:
early 2004
The name originated from the fact that flamethrowers were clearly my favorite weapon. I bought the Sold Out edition of the game and played it
again, this time I had gotten a 2mbps DSL connection. I stopped playing 0 augs and full out played random modding maps, such as Funline
and such. I played all day on those, intrigued at how someone could do something like that. It was during early 2004 that I met the first friend I've ever
had: Falchion39. I didn't know the guy much, but we talked in game a lot. He helped me with some of my aiming as well. He also hosted a server
with Funline maps only, and gave me the admin to it. I was overwhelmed to find this out, as this were my first days as an admin of a server. I used
a lot of commands like god, ghost, to test them out. I abused them like shit, often killing the server members using god and ghost. Falchion saw
this, and he was pissed at me, so he revoked my admin and banned me. At any rate, this caused a mutual hatred of Falchion39 to rise, as I saw
that he banned other people, one of which was [PNK]Bult. Bult was probably one of my best friends, we never fought and we had a hell of a time
playing pool on AIM. Me and him played in Funline servers mainly, but sometimes we challenged each other. As my DXMP career grew bigger,
Bult began to fade. I never knew why, however. I still wanna know where he is today.
Conflicts with [A] Era:
mid 2004
I learned how to code at this time from admin access and such, though only default properties. I saw [A] as a wonderful clan, and I wanted to join them.
I went under the name FireGod and Sesshomaru sometimes to post. One day, I asked them "if you let me in blah blah I'll make Daedalus rifle! I'll make
James machinegun!". They denied and declared me a noob, so for the rest of my days on their forum, I flamed at them and any member I saw in any
server.
One day, after experiencing the skill of rifles I had in a smuggler 0 augs server, one Terminator asked me to join his clan. This would form my first
days as a clanmate.
[TSS] The Sleep Stalkers:
mid 2004
I joined [TSS] as a fighter and as a coder, and my coding knowledge grew intensely. We were a noob clan, despised by most people just as the way
[Z] is despised today. [TSS] was a great clan, because we had some fun times together. I was playing under several different aliases: such as,
[TSS]Hellspawn, [TSS]Hellfire, and [TSS]Swordsman. I played a lot during [TSS] membership, and I grew to knew my clanmembers. A few of them
were noobs, a few of them were remarkable (such as the nowaday Random), and I remember being close to them. I also remember participating in
a clanwar against [A] with 3 members, 4 including me versus two of theirs: Conceited and Daedalus. We lost extremely bad, but I had fun as it was my
first clanwar. I grew to accept the fact that I was hated by members of DXMP for wearing the tag, and admin abused by one [Ca]aK (i think), otherwise
known as Konami today. I left [TSS] knowing I would get hated if I was in a clan led by a 12 year old.
At this time I also introduced my brother into the game (regardless how much he denies it).
[TSS] had split up after I left, and Random grew bitter towards me a bit. He formed a new clan with past members, however, and it was one of the clans
that I had enjoyed being in.
[¥] Voices Clan
TBE ~mid 2004
I aksed Random to recruit me, he did. I wore the tag proudly, playing many many games with my friends such as Esknight and Laurens. I do not remember
playing in any clanwars however, but my time in ¥ was not long. Random noticed violent and malicious behavior on my part, due to the fact that I hated how
Esknight could join so easily and how he had a higher membership than I. Me and Random argued on MSN a lot, until he decided he had it with me, and he
kicked me out of the clan. Ever since then, I had a bitter grudge towards Random and the clans he's been in.
At this time, I went back to [A] forums as a guest. I started this new topic of something about what type of dragon you would be if you were born in whatever
month, something stupid like that. I posted as guest for a while, until somebody replied to me saying "oh no! *kills guest*" or something. At this point, I realized
one of the most remarkable and intriguing aliases I've had for a while.
GhostGuest alias:
TBE ~mid 2004-late 2004
I posted again and again on [A] forums, becoming loyal to them and desperately trying to bury the conflicts I've had. They didn't know I was FireGod, but I wouldn't
either, my personality grew to instant suckup, I became extremely loyal to the clan and they had gotten to know me. I added all available [A] members on MSN
so I could talk with them. I hid in their forums of toilet humor and billy jokes, them not knowing who I was originally. I blended in very closely with them, til the one
day I asked to join them. This had a weird spin to it however.
Joining Decline of [A]
late 2004~early 2005
This was the first time I asked to join their clan, and they did not even respond. I was tested by Mahou and totally obliterated by her, getting owned by other members
in augs as well. Keep in mind, from mid 2004~ this point forward till one specific era, I was a diehard 0 augger, one of the best (I like to think so, at least.) Anyways,
it took nearly 3 months for them to decide, and they still didn't decide. So while I was waiting, my friend named Trailmix was interested in what my playing abilities
were. He recruited me in his clan.
[E3] Echelon 3rd Clan
TBE ~early to mid 2005
I signed up as ghostguest, then changed my name to Vanish. I didn't remember if I played any clanwars, as my mind is blurry about this era. I encountered a hostile
reaction with Whiplash, one of the members. Since then, I grew to hate him but to this day, me and him are neutral I guess. I played in E3 again and again with the tag,
but once I tried to rejoin [A], I had to quit. Most members like Trailmix said "ok, I understand", so it was peaceful at least. Me and him still play together, even to this
day. However, once [A] accepted me, I made a new alias.
[A]tomsk Alias
mid 2005
I played with [A] and joined as a modeller, because I had an interesting idea of modelling. However I couldn't import anything, but Dae accepted my application
anyway. I was a semi-good player, till the day that I had found the forums of [A!B]. At first, I thought they were smug assholes, but then I realized they're
actually quite a few people that are cool such as the nowaday Payne2TheMax and Monkee. Konami was in the clan at the time, and I remember him wanting
to train me in augs as he said "we gotta beat those guys, we can". At first I was skeptical about leaving 0 augs, but I did so anyway. He trained me very roughly:
he had me use HIS binds that he used on a laptop, mind you, and he had me play in a server with elite players all day long to get a thrashing and to get used.
I barely got one kill out of anything, and I continued this pattern for about 3 months 'till I decided, fuck DX. (There was also drama and such among the time, so yeah.)
Quitting of [A] and DX
late 2005
I quit [A] knowing I couldn't get anything done in the clan anyway, because I suck at both modelling and augging. I quit DX as well, because I sucked anyway, my skill
in 0 augs was slipping tremendously. For a short period of time, I layed dormant using Atomsk. I remember my fighting with NEM and Random intensified at this point.
I apologized to him one day, and since then we became honest friends. Over a time, I have gotten used to modelling, and my knowledge grew majorly about it to a point
where I knew how to import correctly. I found my current alias as of today.
cataclyzm Alias
early 2006~mid 2006
The origin came from playing Thief II. A map had an event called a "cataclysm", which was a violet change that brought good things. I figured I'm violent enough, as I flame
a lot with people (this spawned the epic debates me and DarkKnight had as well.) I decided to change the s to a Z since it sounded so cool, at the time at least. I met one
of the greatest mappers today, also to a point where he inspired me to make ultimate, skinned, animated models.
MainMan's Mod
mid 2006
I joined his mod, modelling his weapons and gaining a HUGE amount of knowledge at the time. He liked what he saw, although when I look back upon those models,
they were very crappy. At this time I also joined a Singleplayer RPG Mod: DX: MIB. I modelled for those guys too, intensely. This era is where I flamed a lot at [Z] boards
as well. Overtime, I knew how my models were increasing to semi-pro level, so this might've been a perfect time to rejoin [A], so I did rejoin [A] anyways.
Rejoining [A]
mid 2006
Since I finished MM mod modelling, I looked at [A] and helped Daedalus and Alex with numerous things like basketballs and soccerballs and blah blah. I had to quit
DX: MIB eventually due to inactivity and hostile reactions to my models in the mod. I also redid a lot of MainMan's stuff so his mod looks like it has better models put in.
I learned of 3ds max modelling at this time, and my models were insanely better. Whilst in [A], one of my best friends to this day introduced me into the gametype I had
originally despised: ATDM.
Hybrid era:
mid~late 2006
He first introduced me to knives, as he got me off my ass and I played. He sent me numerous demorecs to get better, and he made me learn more about augs than what
I originally knew. I was also playing at this time due to two people: Deja and Spaz. Deja crashed most servers, so I figured I might as well get better at ATDM while it's still here.
Spaz told me one day to go learn how to aug, so I did so anyway to prove a point to him. Anyways, Hybrid helped me learn numerous techniques, including HEing in Silo
which is, by far, his favorite technique to use in Silo. Me and him became best buddies ever since, until one day when he wanted me to join one of the most controversial
clans in DXMP History.
[4R] Era:
late 2006
I realized I was multiclanning, but at the same time it wasn't really a clan. I tried to get this through people's heads that the only reason I joined was to play with Hybrid and
Mark, two of the best friends I enjoy playing with. Course, one day I had been found out, as one "Hitman" claims to have "xposed" me or something like that, so I naturally
stayed calm and thought [A]lpha would still let me stay. They did, however one of the worst eras I've ever been in had been created.
[A] Turmoil Era
late 2006
At first, Alex hated me. Big deal I thought, but some of my friends such as Spiderbot and Nobody also grew to hate me, so this was a major deal. I realized my true friends
in [A], and to this day most of them are still my friends. However, [A]lex is still bitter towards me, to this day I do not know why even after apologizing, but nonetheless I
stopped dealing with him long ago. Most people let me stay in, quitting [4R] emphasized that. Hybrid also quit [A] before and joined EL because he didn't feel welcome
in the clan anymore. Nonetheless, me and him still played on and off with rifles and such in EL server.
Present Era
early 2007
To this day, I have a lot of conflictions with people even still, but most of them have grown used to it. I'm still a modeller, my models being nearly pro level but not quite.
I am still in [A], and I'm proud to be in it despite conflictions between the members. I still aug on and off, though I promised Hybrid I would aug a lot after he left. But, it
has been a good run so far, so keep it up folks. \m/

Thanks for reading my story. Don't mind the breaks, I typed it all out in Notepad.
