Postby Lemon Und Lime » Wed Aug 08, 07 9:25 pm

the ATI sapphire x1650 pro to be exact and whilst it is a step up from the shitty radeon 9800 i've had for a good 3 years my PC is still a piece of unstable shit

any game i play always results in a BSOD with the following message;

'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'

i'm only posting here as someone may have suffered from BSODs in the past and can shed some light on the situation

if not imma calling microsoft tommorow for a 'hotfix' dickz

pc specs are as follows;

AMD Athlon 64, 2.4 ghz 3400+
1024 MB DDR SDRAM
Radeon X1650 Pro 256mb gddr3
200gb hard drive
Soundblaster x-fi audio card

I had the same problem with my ATI card. $171 CDN later, it works, but I can't run any virtual drives.

Try updating video card drivers for the start.

PC is 3 years old, did a memtest and the RAM etc. is fine

updated video drivers
updated sound card drivers
updated windows
updated directx

all to no avail

defragged to no avail

did a winDbg on one the minidump files created after the BSOD and everytime the cause of the crash seems to be a 'DRIVER_FAULT' and suspect drivers are often;

'ks.sys' or 'win32k.sys' which are obviously OS drivers

reformat perhaps?

HELP A Nigra' OUT

I literally had that same bluescreen only two weeks ago, I had got a new machine, it's definitely a hardware error, today I got an email back from the people I sent it back to, to get it repaired, they said it was a "missing driver" and that they were sending me the floppy with a manual too.

But I didn't even get to install an OS, it automatically gave me the bluescreen regardless. From what a different bluescreen stated, it was my harddrive...

Could it be a compatibility error?

honestly don't think it could be hardware related as everything else is working fine pretty much, will try ringing microsoft tomorrow for a hotfix that is supposedly available, see how it goes from there

You buttfucked your power supply, in a manner of speaking. After 100000 possibilities, it usually turns out to be the power supply. I've seen other people with this problem. Soon you may get a...its hard to describe...a brief flash of colors on boot that makes it look like your monitor is burning up from the inside after suffering a serious plasma bolt to the back of it.

Radeon sucks. Though, your main problem might be that your pcs motherboard doesn't support DDR2/DDR3 RAM types. However, the graphics card should still be usable on most games. What i suggest is try getting a new motherboard & Processor to fix the problem...

Don't mean to act as if you're stupid, but are you sure you installed your card into the right slot? AGP x8 cards can't go in an AGP x4 slot. PCI cards can't go in an AGP slots, Visa Versa. PCI Express cards cannot go in normal PCI Slots.

That's not true. Otherwise my old Radeon 8900 Pro wouldn't have worked with my Asus P4B533. :)
